No More Puppy Mills

Puppy mills should be eliminated because of the major problem they pose, not only to the dogs, but to the general welfare of specific breeds. Also known as backyard breeding, puppy mills occur when dogs are breed excessively. The inhumane breeding puts the puppies at a greater risk of becoming ill from genetic diseases such as heart disease.

In December, 2005 I visited a puppy mill in Oxford, Pa. At the time I was unaware that I would be visiting a puppy mill, but as soon as I saw the "house" I was given directions to I immediately knew it was not the place I should get my new puppy.

A small pen was outside the house and a foul odor was lingering I the air. As soon as I went into the house I knew something was not right, the floor was covered in animal feces. There were small bins set up around the room. One look at the small puppies and I was about to cry. Some had broken limbs and al of them had clouded eyes. When I spoke to the man in charge he informed me that he gave them his own shots. (None of the puppies had even seen a vet) I was surprised at the horrific conditions they had to live in. This was only one case of the cruelty animals go through at puppy mills.

About a month later the ASPCA rescued over 333 dogs were confiscated. The men were hardly convicted to the crime.

They should pay dearly for what they had done. Please help me try to raise the concern for puppy mills by signing this petition to outlaw puppy mills once and for all.
