Our representatives in Washington are hard at work these days on health care reform legislation. We must make sure they don't make any more concessions to the anti-choice pressure they're feeling now.
You can make sure that American women don't lose ground - including losing abortion coverage they already have - in the new health system.
Reproductive-health care should be treated like any other health care service in the new system - not singled out for exclusion on political grounds. Speak out by writing your senators now!

This is a blatant case of church and state being smashed together. As these two entities are supposed to be separate in this country, it's unbelievable to me that these issues get any ground at all. Women in this country deserve better!

As an LPN,I took care of patients, whose religious beliefs I did not agree with. I did not force my beliefs on them,I respected their right to refuse treatment because of their beliefs.I want my Senators to stop forcing their beliefs on me.By refusing to include abortion services in any health care bill, that's what they are doing. It's time to let medical decisions be made by the patient and her doctor.

Do you want to pay for abortions or do you want to pay for welfare for single moms? It's one or the other.
I am personally against abortion but believe it is wrong to enforce my beliefs on others. Just as I would not like my choice not to have an abortion taken away from me, we must respect others' right to decide for themselves what is right.

My religious belief does not preclude abortion, and I am one of many. Since I'm guaranteed religious freedom, what right does the State or any group have to deny me that right? I think it's a far greater sin to bring an unwanted child into the world, whose expenses through life may well need to be paid for by the State, and whose spiritual education will definitely not be given by the State! Besides, I'm sick of our laws discriminating against me solely on my reproductive sex organs. If medicare pays for viagra, why should I be denied an abortion or my health insurance rates be higher than a man's?
