Target:Danish Prime Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen Sponsored by:ONE
People in the poorest parts of the world will be hit first and worst by climate change. Many leaders are promising to help people living in extreme poverty adapt to the effects of climate change and to help reduce emissions. This sounds great, but unfortunately, on closer examination, it turns out most of this money could be double counted--it's money that has already been promised as development aid.
In other words, some governments want to stretch their much-needed development funding twice as far to try and cover the new challenges presented by climate change. This dangerous double counting needs be exposed--and it needs to stop.
Ask Danish Prime Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen to stop leaders double counting money that is meant to help developing countries adapt to climate change!

Heal the world
Make it a better place
For you and for me
And the entire human race
There are people dying
If you care enough
For the living
Make a better place
For you and for me... (c)

Dear Danish Prime Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen,
As part of the Copenhagen climate agreement, please ensure:
1. That existing aid promises are kept.
2. That additional costs borne by people living in poverty caused by climate change are paid for by additional money.
3. That countries are transparent about how much development aid is being reallocated to fighting climate change.
Sincerely,
Cláudio Gonçalves

Hej! I recently had the opportunity to visit your country, and loved it. I was impressed by the sensible solutions that Denmark has implemented for a variety of things, and came back to Canada with the hope of encouraging our governments at all levels to take note and borrow some of the ideas. I know that Canada, as a country, have a long way to go, but I remain hopeful. That being said, I do hope that you will not get "snowed" by countries trying to double dip on their promises and responsibilities. The wealthier countries have a moral and ethical obligation to assist, since it is our life-style that is bringing this planet the the edge. Even if we are not to blame (I believe that we are, but there are those who disagree), we still have an obligation to assist those who do not have the resources to help themselves simply by accident of location of birth. As a civilized people, we should be willing to provide meaningful aid to those in need.... we are more than capable. We also have an obligation to REDUCE the emmissions we contribute, but I fear that it may be too late for the glaciers and polar regions which are alraedy melting at an alarming rate. Please have the courage to push for what is right, and do not back down. Thank you.

All countries must be held accountable and be transparent when comes to indicating how exactly they will work to combat climate change. It is in all nations interest that we all work together to find a way that is both equitable and will provide a definite way forward for the future of the planet.
