Would you take $1 million to keep silent about pollution in your neighborhood water stream? King America Finishing has been knowingly dumping flame retardant chemicals into the Ogeechee river stream in Georgia for five years now. Their penalty is $1 million for "environmental projects" on the Ogeechee. But this is simply not enough.
Residents want the pipe used to leak the chemicals ripped out completely. That task alone will cost way more than $1 million. Residents near the Ogechee fear that these toxic chemicals may have even contaminated their drinking water.
The damage done by King America Finishing is deplorable and they must pay the proper repercussions. They have been up to these type of antics since 1980. Don't let big corporations try to put a price tag on clean and healthy lives. Fight for pollution cleanup and let your voice be heard!
Dear Georgia Environmental Protection Division ,
King America Finishing needs to be properly reprimanded for their thoughtless actions. Dumping flame retardant chemicals into the Ogeechee River was irresponsible and endangered the animals in the river as well as the constituents of the community.
They have put lives at risk all for the sake of making a dollar. $1 million is not going to take care of the now potentially polluted drinking water, nor will it bring back the numerous animals and water life that have been killed because of the toxic chemicals emitted from their factory!
We urge you to force King America Finishing to take their toxic pipes out immediately. They must take responsibility for their actions and clean up their mess!
