Kathy’s dog, Mugsy, was only 5 years old when he was diagnosed with cancer. Nothing could save him, and her family lost Mugsy the same day he was diagnosed. They were devastated.
This tragedy is far too common. This year alone, an estimated 12 million pets will be diagnosed with cancer, the No. 1 disease affecting and a leading cause of death in dogs and cats. Treatment options are limited now, but Morris Animal Foundation is determined to change that.

Cancer doesn’t wait, and neither can we. This year alone, 12 million dogs and cats will be diagnosed with this terrible disease. This is an unacceptable statistic. We need more research to discover the causes of cancer, to find better ways to prevent and diagnose it, and to provide more effective treatments for our beloved pets.
I pledge to learn more about the signs and symptoms of cancer in cats and dogs.
I will do my part to keep my pets safe and healthy by making sure they get regular veterinary exams.
I will make a lifetime commitment to every animal in my care, doing my best to ensure their health and well-being.
