Oppose Legislation Enabling Mass Murdering of Cats

Target: US Senate
Sponsored by: Care2

The "P" in the REPAIR Act now before the Senate stands for "Protection," yet this bill does the opposite of protecting. It authorizes the killing of free roaming cats and dogs, wild horses, and any other animals unfairly deemed "invasive."

Killing programs, using federal money and under few federal restrictions, would exterminate virtually any feral cat found in the wild. In the past these programs have used painful poisons, body-gripping traps, snares and other cruel procedures to kill animals.

Congress should instead support more humane programs like Trap-Neuter-Return ones that avoid taking animal life. It doesn't have to and shouldn't allow indiscriminate murdering of innocent domestic cats and other animals. Sign the petition to tell your Senator to say "No" to cruel mass killing of feral animals.

Dear Senator,

I urge you to oppose HR 767, or the Refuge Ecology Protection, Assistance, and Immediate Response Act. It in fact does the opposite of what its title implies: it authorizes the mass killing of animals, mainly free roaming, or feral, domestic cats.

This bill is meant to address the issue of "nonnative" domestic cats that are entering the wild and eating animals such as fish and birds. However, in order to "protect" the fish and birds from cats, this legislation would fund indiscriminate killing of innocent cats and other animals deemed "invasive." In addition to being inhumane to the animals called "invasive," HR 767 would not even help these animals' prey.

This bill is not the answer to the problem. There are more humane ways in which to alleviate the problem of feral animals. Please oppose HR 767.

There are humane means of controlling the feral animal population that do not entail using cruel methods to kill these animals.

I'm a cat lover and I fear if one of my cats accidentally got lost they would be "disposed of" before I got a chance to find it and bring it home. Please vote against HR 767.

Studies show that skyscrapers kill more native birds than feral animals but we don't advocate reducing the heights of our buildings. Time and money would be better spent on Trap Neuter Release programs and requiring people to neuter their animals unless they are professional breeders. I do not support this legislation and the cruelty it could unleash.

Dear Senator, I urge you to oppose HR 767, or the Refuge Ecology Protection, Assistance, and Immediate Response Act. This legislation would provide far too much wiggle room in its definition of "invasive species" and its restrictions on how people can "control" these animals. Such broad wording could lead many animals to face, at the hands of unrestricted people, harrowing killing procedures, which in the past included painful poisons, body-gripping traps, snares and other cruel methods. Proper legislation would protect animals from large-scale, cruel murdering. Please oppose HR 767, or the REPAIR Act, in order to save innocent cats and other animals from mass, inhumane killing programs. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, Lauren Paustian

Stop the killings of innocent animals and it's not their fault that some of them don't have a home! it's unfair and cruel.....leave them alone or find them homes.

I take care of feral cats. I feed them, house them during the winter and take them to be neutered. These cats wait for me everyday. I see their gratitude and know I am doing the right thing in allowing them to live a full life. Please allow those of us who find great fulfillment and happiness in caring for these beautiful animals to continue. Just because they have no human family does NOT mean they deserve death!!!! Instead we really MUST address the issue of altering our pets - make THAT a law. If not - the killing of feral animals will certainly be endless and that makes NO sense.

Cruelty on animals must stop. Animals are a part of mother nature and she is getting very angry with people hurting and destroying her beloved animals, earth and environment. She is soon to whip her tail with full blown whips, and that is something I can guarantee that you don't want to experience. Nobody has ever began to experience her full blown whips, only her small whips. And she is now preparing to whip her tail with numerous full blown whips! Once mother nature whips her tail, there is no stopping her, regardless of who you are. The days are growing shorter, and so is her fiery. Therefore, keep on making her angry and I promise you will regret it. You have been warned.

i can certianly see doing this(ina more humane way mind you) with the very sick feral animals, but that is not a very large mass, so someone in the house needs to reveiw what theyare wanting to do, kill innocent animals for no real reason

I support a more humane program such as Trap-Neuter-Return these innocent domestic cats & other animals to society instead of cruel mass killings, such as painful poisons. Please opposed HR 767 it is not the answer!

You are killing more animals to save others! It is not right, something else has to be done to protect all creatures not just one single group. This is like animal racism!

So as of those people born in the USA, we/they are said to be native to this country. As such we're able to move about the US without much reservation and then by right be native just about anywhere we want to visit or call home. Fact is cats, invasive or not, have been 'native' to this country for hundreds of years now. . . . just a shot in the dark here but ah... Id be, you too Senator and most certainly any of those retarded, little dick'd, trophy hunt'n, cowards that would even suggest and/or be party to such a bill, would also be 'invasive' if our life or offspring was being constantly threatened simply to satisfy those people that have a problem with a cat shitin' in their million dollar yards. This is just disgusting and obviously gives a unlimited amount of authority to kill in the hands of incompetence and definitely limited ability to look beyond killing as a source of protecting, in this case that which does not need protecting. Thank you - c a mcgowan
