| 3,700 | 1:11 pm PST, Feb 7 | Heather Barber | I was just made aware of the cruelty on factory farms by a book called "Eating Animals". I am shocked to say the least that this is allowed to happen! Something has to change!!!! | |
| 3,699 | 10:16 pm PST, Feb 6 | Ms. | Ericaa Volpe | the best view of integrity and moral togetherness of a nation is shown in the accepted treatment of animals |
| 3,698 | 2:08 pm PST, Feb 2 | Dr. | Shaun Little | This practice is inhuman, cruel and not something that should be taking place in the "greatest" country in the world. We should be ashamed for allowing it to occurr. Please write your state and federal officials, call on supermarkets to stop carrying these products and of course don't purchase their meat. |
| 3,697 | 6:12 pm PST, Jan 29 | Ms. | Mary Rocco | Factory farming is barbaric and cruel and it destroys our environment. It must stop. |
| 3,696 | 1:01 pm PST, Jan 28 | Mrs. | Eva Pineau | These facilities are ATROCIOUS to say the least. PLEASE PLEASE put a stop to them. Our Country is surely better than this...please end this torture. |

| 3,693 | 10:57 pm PST, Jan 27 | Shannon Bellflower | I just watched a few videos about factory farming...and I am APPALLED to say the least. Cows are thrown in machines and have their throats slit while they're still fully concious and them dumped on a concrete floor wiggling around with guts hanging out?! That's how they die? Pigs suffer a similiar fate and chicked and turkeys are packed so tight they can't move. They're abused by immature, inhumane factory workers. Thrown against walls, stomped on, necks twisted, little piglets that are born sickly or too small are violently thrown on a concrete floor one after the other and get stomped on until they're dead! I had NO IDEA it was that bad. I was crying to the video almost immediately, so much that my eyes are puffy and red now. This is the most disgusting thing I think humans have ever done. How can people in those factories sleep at night? It's barbaric and it needs to stop immediately. We can raise farm animals way better than factories can. The only reason there's factories and puppy mills is because those people are selfish and want to save money. They're cheap...so cheap that they barely supply food to the animals, and the food they do get has almost no nutritional value. I pray for all those animals that have gone through those factories, will go through them, and are there now suffering. We can change it, we just have to really try. There is hope, we just need to shine a light on it. | |

| 3,691 | 10:16 pm PST, Jan 26 | Callie Ray | The brutal treatment of living, feeling farm animals- just like your beloved pet- is appalling and shameful- all for the sake of enjoying the taste? What a disgrace. Help the environment, animals, your health, and world hunger... STOP FACTORY FARMING. | |

| 3,688 | 10:27 am PST, Jan 25 | Ms. | Cecily Baran | The suffering of animals in Confined Animal Feeding Operations is unconscionable. How can we stand by while these beings live out their whole lives in misery, pain, and cruelty, all for the sake of greater profits? |
| 3,687 | 10:07 am PST, Jan 24 | Ms. | Cynthia Honeycutt | I find it appalling that animals are treated with cruelty. It's absurd! There is no reason to treat the animals in this manner. I believe if the majority of people were aware how these farm animals were treated, they would stop buying meat produced from these factories. Who would want to eat the meat of animals treated in this manner? The energy of how that animal was treated is in that animal; therefore, within the meat. Fear, pain, and sadness, no one wants to feel this way nor would they want any being to feel this way. I can not believe these forms of farming are legal. |

| 3,685 | 10:55 am PST, Jan 23 | kathryn caldwell | i can not believe an industry is allowed to thrive when its impact on the environment, the well being of it's workers and the well being of it's live stock are all put in drastic danger. factory farming is by far the worst solution to what they like to consider 'feeding the world.' it's destroying our precious earth three-fold. | |
| 3,684 | 9:26 am PST, Jan 23 | Leslie DiGiovine | Feeding cows corn, which they can't digest;cramming chickens into cages piled on top of each other; not letting pigs soialize and pasture;debeaking; tail docking;over crowding;antibiotic resistance;exessie carbon emissions;filthy water runoff;meat recalls;e coli; = SHAME. Eating factory farmed animals is not a diet, it's bad karma. Also people who serve on boards of large food corporations and pharmaceutical companies should never be voted into any legislature.Remember that when you vote. | |

| 3,673 | 7:03 pm PST, Jan 14 | Ms. | Sonya Bruyette | Has anyone ever considered that the factory farms are run by clones? Too science fiction sounding for you? At first I thought the idea was absurd when I read this article below on clones: http://www.keen.com/CommunityServer/blogs/14884743/archive/category/1659.aspx But after some contemplation, I started to wonder if clones are running the factory farms. Consider this possibility: No one in their right minds would be caught dead in such a horrific environment, even if they do love to eat meat. Eating meat vs participating in the evil torture and slaughter of creatures who feel pain and fear are two completely different things! Makes you think, doesn't it? I believe our world is run by mostly dark-energy people. Dark defined as absent or seriously lacking Light/Love. Money and power are at the hub of everything including factory farming. The government has figured out a way to continue the money making power of the repulsive factory farms by employing clones to run them. This way here, they can turn a deaf ear and blind eye to the whole treacherous mess, and still make a profit! Yikes folks. I'm really creeeped out now..... In any case, whether or not the government uses clones to run the factory farms is besides the point. Factory farming is a most evil practice. Humans have lost touch with their true roots to embrace and revere all creatures as sentient beings, and to take from Mother Earth in respectful and grateful ways. |

| 3,666 | 12:51 pm PST, Jan 11 | Jen Suter | I am embarrassed for mankind. I have been a vegetarian for almost 14 years for various reasons. Many of which have to do with the thought of eating animals. I do not try to impose my choices on others, but I believe that there are very few people that know the truths about what they are putting in their bodies, and what that "food" went through before it got to their table. Factory farming is obviously a horrifying reality for the animals, but what we are allowing to happen to people as a result of the same practices is just STUPID. | |
| 3,665 | 11:44 am PST, Jan 11 | Tonya Ballingham Mick | I am not sure what is more horrific, factory farming, or the fact that so few people even know about it. | |
| 3,664 | 5:35 pm PST, Jan 10 | Ms. | Haley Long | I can't imagine looking into the eyes of another creature so fragile and gentle and treating them the way they do at these factories. STOP ANIMAL CRUELTY. |

| 3,660 | 6:06 pm PST, Jan 5 | Ms. | Gisele Waters | I SENT THE EMAIL BELOW to the TEXAS FARM BUREAU to try and get the word out on the calf investigation in Vermont(one example of factory farm cruelty to animals). I believe we can have both HUMANE treatment of animals in factories and allow humans to profit and consume. Profiting from the consumption of animals does NOT HAVE TO INVOLVE cruelty. AM I NAIVE? Linda, Steve, Glen, Gene, Ned, Tom and Dale, I think that the TXFB could be the future envy of many other state Farm Bureaus around the country. Could you help me brainstorm how to convince the TFB hierarchy that becoming the envy of other farm bureaus in the U.S. will be the in the best interest of the TXFB? The FACTORY farm industry has the potential for systemic cruelty to many many animals in large factory farms. Watch this video and the callous cruelty practiced by factory employees in VERMONT, it may just surprise you what humans in the industry are capable of….I ask myself where do these men learn such ways? Is this a part of on the job training? calf_investigation_103009.html or www.humanesociety.org/.../...stigation_103009.html If you don't watch the video, that says it all doesn't it? The HSUS investigation at a slaughter facility in Vermont shows stomach-turning cruelty to dairy calves. How can WE MAKE SURE THIS IS NOT HAPPENING IN OUR TEXAS FACTORY FARMS? The Vermont plant's co-owner and other workers abused animals too weak to stand in order to get them to their feet -- including in front of a USDA inspector who watched but failed to stop the abuse. In one case, a partially decapitated calf appeared to be still conscious. Another scene shows a calf who appears to be conscious while SKINNED ALIVE. Wetting down calves with water so that electric prods WILL HURT MORE? These actions cannot be "normal agricultural practice can it?" In this documentary we are not talking about the small to medium farms everywhere that probably care for their animals and their animals welfare, we are talking about FACTORY farms and meat plants where animals are considered only "SHITBOXES." They call them shitboxes? Should the consumer accept this type of behavior as "normal agricultural farm practice?" These factory farmers in Vermont are acting like monsters BY CHOICE. And to exacerbate the issue, the USDA has been caught allowing the cruelty to continue. Does this happen in Texas I ask myself? The people responsible for this sickening abuse must be held accountable. Because of this film I had to consider that there are broader agricultural policies and enforcement problems that lead to the mistreatment of animals like these young calves, many of whom are too weak to stand and walk to their own to their own slaughter! I love meat, I also love animals and I don't believe for one second that we have to be CRUEL MONSTERS to slaughter them for our consumption and profit. Americans can be humane consumers of animal products and they can also profit from animals, without the cruelty. The Texas Farm Bureau should help enforce humane practices in all their farms and the TXFB should be the example that all other state farm bureau's look up to.....HOW ABOUT AN AD CAMPAIGN THAT SHOWS THE HUMANE PRACTICES OF current TXFB MEMBERS and the evaluation and subsequent punishment of those that do not comply with the humane treatment? An expose of sorts showing the Good, the Bad, and the Reformed? In a Spaghetti Western style documentary, to highlight the pride in our Lone Star State? Gisele Waters, Ph.D. Program Evaluator, at your services....Just tell me how I can help make the TX Farm Bureau the envy of all others and at the same time make sure none of these practices are happening to our farm animals in Texas. I live in Houston and after seeing this video, I just had to write to you guys. |

| 3,651 | 11:04 am PST, Dec 8 | Ms. | Susan Weber | Confining animals in unhealthy, overcrowded, artificial buildings and cages, away from the public eye, factory farming has been allowed for too long to grow without regard for health of animals, humans, or the environment. Please rally to stop the most tragic holocaust we have today in the United States! Our lives absolutely depend upon it. |
Stop the Horrors of Factory Farming Now
PLEASE BOYCOTT BEEF AND FUR PRODUCTS AND STOP THE HORRORS OF FACTORY FARMING NOW! WITH SO MANY ALTERNATIVES TO MEAT AND FUR THESE DAYS, WHY SUPPORT A CRUEL INDUSTRY THAT KILLS MILLIONS OF ANIMALS IN A VIOLENT AND INHUMANE WAY EVERY YEAR THROUGH TRAPPING AND FACTORY FARMING? FILM FOOTAGE, PHOTOGRAPHY AND INTERVIEWS WITH MEAT INDUSTRY EMPLOYEES IS DOCUMENTING REGULARLY THAT ANIMALS ARE ROUTINELY BEING, SCALDED, SKINNED AND DISMEMBERED ALIVE AND WHILE STILL CONSCIOUS ON A DAILY BASIS ACROSS THE COUNTRY. THE ‘UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE’ WAS MADE AWARE OF THESE VIOLATIONS OF ‘ THE HUMANE SLAUGHTER ACT’ WHEN IT WAS GIVEN COPIES OF THE ‘HUMANE FARMING ASSOCIATION’S’ CHIEF INVESTIGATOR’S (GAIL EISNITZ) BOOK ‘SLAUGHTERHOUSE’, WHICH DOCUMENTS MEAT INDUSTRY ABUSES. PRESENTLY, A PETITION HAS BEEN SUBMITTED TO THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE’S SECRETARY ANN VENEMAN BY THE ‘HUMANE FARMING ASSOCIATION’ REQUESTING THAT THE DEMAND FOR REFORMS IN ‘PETITION NO. 01-05’ BE IMPLEMENTED AND THAT THE ‘HUMANE SLAUGHTER ACT’ BE ENFORCED IMMEDIATELY. YOU CAN REQUEST A COPY OF THE PETITION BY GOING TO WWW.HFA.ORG. BUT SECRETARY VENEMEN NEEDS TO HEAR FROM YOU NOW. CALL AGRICULTURE SECRETARY ANN VENEMAN TODAY AT (202) 720-3631, FAX HER AT (202) 720-2166, E-MAIL HER AT AGSEC@USDA.GOV, OR WRITE HER AT: USDA, ROOM 200-A, WHITTEN BLDG., 1400 INDEPENDENCE AVENUE, WASHINGTON, DC 20250. YOU CAN GO TO ESPIRITUDEOSO@AOL.COM TO REQUEST A FORM LETTER TO BE SENT TO YOU TO SIGN AND MAIL TO THE USDA. YOU CAN ALSO EDIT IT OR REFER TO IT TO WRITE YOUR OWN LETTER.
WE, THE CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES NEED TO GIVE A CLEAR MESSAGE THAT BRUTALITY TOWARD FELLOW SENTIENT BEINGS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND NOT NECESSARY. FACTORY FARMING, AS IT IS NOW, CONTRIBUTES TO GROSS POLLUTION AND GLOBAL WARMING. IT HAS ROBBED OVER HALF OF THE TRADITIONAL FAMILY-RUN FARMS AND RANCHES OF THEIR LIVELIHOOD. ‘MAD COW DISEASE’ IS A CONSEQUENCE OF FACTORY FARMING.
OUR GREATNESS AS A PEOPLE AND A NATION CAN BE JUDGED BY THE WAY THAT WE TREAT THOSE WHO ARE HELPLESS, INNOCENT AND LESS FORTUNATE THEN WE ARE. PLEASE SHOW HOW GREAT YOU ARE BY SIGNING THIS PETITION AND SHOWING THAT YOU ARE COMMITTED TO NOT PARTAKING IN THIS VISCIOUS INDUSTRY BY, AT THE VERY LEAST, NOT BUYING, SELLING OR EATING VEAL AND BY NOT BUYING PRODUCTS WITH FUR IN THEM. FOR EXAMPLE, IN THE VEAL INDUSTRY, BABY COWS (MALE CALVES, TO BE SPECIFIC) ARE TORN FROM THEIR MOTHERS SHORTLY AFTER BIRTH. THEY ARE KEPT IN SMALL CRATES WHERE THEY CANNOT MOVE. THEY NEVER SEE THE LIGHT OF DAY AND ARE FED A LIQUID DIET THAT MAKES THEM SICK AND ANEMIC. THEN, THEY ARE CRUELLY SLAUGHTERED AND BUTCHERED- ALL FOR THE SAKE OF A DEPRAVED FEW WHO RELISH BUYING, SELLING AND EATING THIS PRODUCT AT THE EXPENSE AND TORTURE OF ANOTHER LIVING BEING WHO IS HELPLESS, INNOCENT AND HAS FEELINGS. ALL LIVING THINGS ARE CONNECTED. BRUTALITY TOWARD ANY LIVING BEING GOES INTO THE COLLECTIVE CONSCIOUSNESS SO TO SPEAK, AND HAS IT’S CONSEQUENCES.
BY SIGNING THIS PETITION YOU ARE COMMITTING TO ENDORCING ‘PETITION NO. 01-05’ AND SUPPORT ENFORCING ‘THE HUMANE SLAUGHTER ACT’. YOU AGREE AT A MINIMUM TO NOT SUPPORT THE HEINOUS PRACTICES OF VEAL PRODUCTION BY NOT BUYING, EATING OR SELLING VEAL. YOU FURTHER RESOLVE TO INVESTIGATE FOR YOURSELF INTO THE HORRIBLE BUSINESS BEHIND CURRENT FACTORY FARMING PRACTICES AND FUR TRAPPING. YOU WILL DISCOVER THAT THIS IMMORAL CORPORATE ENGINE TORTURES AND ABUSES DEFENSELESS ANIMALS SUCH AS COWS, PIGS AND CHICKENS AND WILDLIFE WITHOUT REGARD, AND ONLY CARES ABOUT EFFICIENCY OF PRODUCTION AND ECONOMIC GAIN. YOU WILL FIND OUT THE TRUE STORY BEHIND THE PACKAGED MEAT THAT ENDS UP IN YOUR SUPERMARKET AND ON YOUR DINNER TABLE AND IN RESTAURANTS. THE TRUTH WILL BE REVEALED TO YOU REGARDING THE HORRENDOUS PRACTICE OF FUR-TRAPPING THAT ENDS UP IN CLOTHING IN RETAIL STORES. THE EXTENT THAT THE MEAT AND FUR INDUSTRY MISLEAD AND LIE TO THE PUBLIC WILL AMAZE YOU. IT GOES BEYOND WHAT YOU CAN IMAGINE!
IT IS SUGGESTED THAT YOU CONTACT THE ‘HUMANE FARMING ASSOCIATION’ (P.O. BOX 3577, SAN RAFAEL, CALIFORNIA 94912, (415) 485-1495, WWW.HFA.ORG), THE ‘ANIMAL PROTECTION INSTITUTE’ AND 'PEOPLE FOR THE ETHICAL TREATMENT OF ANIMALS’ (BOTH ON THE INTERNET). YOU CAN ORDER A FREE KIT FROM HFA AND LEAFLETS TO HAND OUT FOR BOYCOTTING VEAL. THE ‘ANIMAL PROTECTION INSTITUTE’ HAS AN EXCELLENT CAMPAIGN GOING AGAINST FUR TRAPPING. ‘PEOPLE FOR THE ETHICAL TREATMENT OF ANIMALS’ (PETA) IS PRESENTLY CAMPAIGNING AGAINST ‘KENTUCKY FRIED CHICKEN’ FOR THEIR REFUSAL TO COMPLY TO TREATING CHICKENS MORE HUMANELY. INFORM RESTAURANTS AND STORES THAT YOU REFUSE TO SUPPORT THE INHUMANE PRACTICES OF THE VEAL, CHICKEN AND OTHER MEAT AND FUR-TRAPPING INDUSTRIES. THERE ARE ALTERNATIVES!
OTHER COUNTRIES, SUCH AS ENGLAND, HAVE ADOPTED MORE HUMANE FARMING PRACTICES. IT'S TIME THAT THIS GREAT NATION OF OURS DOES THE SAME. PLEASE DON’T FORGET TO REQUEST A COPY OF THE FORM LETTER TO SEND TO THE USDA TO ENFORCE THE ‘HUMANE SLAUGHTER ACT’. THE E-MAIL ADDRESSES ARE IN THE BEGINNING OF THIS PETITION.
YOU WILL FEEL BETTER FOR IT. I PROMISE YOU...
THE ANIMALS WILL TOO! WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT
THE ANIMALS NEED YOUR COMPASSION. WE CANNOT ACCOMPLISH THIS ALONE.
