Solving the climate crisis – one of the greatest challenges humanity has ever faced – has never been easy. But with the results of the recent US election and its many profound consequences for us as a nation, this challenge has become even greater.
Yet some things haven’t changed based on the election results. Ninety-seven percent of climate scientists still agree that climate change is real and caused by human activity. And the majority of Americans and people around the world still know urgent action is necessary to avoid the costly effects of a changing climate.
That is why we need to stand together and tell US President-elect Donald Trump that he must act on the science and heed the will of the American public by making climate solutions a reality.
The Trump Administration may present obstacles. But we have been here and faced setbacks before. After the UN’s COP 15 summit in Copenhagen, it felt like the world would never come together to find a solution to the climate crisis. And six years later, we were celebrating the Paris Agreement. Renewable energy is becoming more abundant as prices continue to drop. More clean energy jobs are created every day.
The tide of change is stronger than any election campaign and our momentum is greater than ever. We’ll continue fighting for climate solutions every step of the way.
