Pledge To Take Time For Nature

Whether it's a family barbecue, a cottage weekend, or camping many Canadians and their families celebrate summer by getting outside and taking time in nature. And that's great, especially when you consider that some studies have suggested that children who spend more time indoors may have greater tendency to develop attention deficit issues and childhood obesity.

We know natural areas matter to Canadians. A 2012 Ipsos Reid poll commissioned by Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) shows that more than 97% of Canadians believe that getting outdoors is important to their family's wellbeing. 87% felt that given the choice, they would prefer to spend family time outdoors in nature, rather than indoors.

Wondering where to find all those natural places? In the past 50 years, NCC has helped to protect more than 2.6 million acres of ecologically significant land nationwide.

Take the pledge to take time for nature and let NCC give you tips on how to make the most of it.
