Dog thrown from window, resulting in death

On September 12, 2005, Diane Garber allegedly beat her husband with a hammer and then threw his 8-month old puppy out the window, where it fell to its death 6 floors below. We are asking for vigorous prosecution, as well as jail time, a heavy fine and mandatory psychological and substance abuse testing and counseling if Garber is convicted.
Honorable Charles J. Hynes,

Diane Garber was indicted by a grand jury Sept. 28th for felony animal
cruelty. Garber faces up to two years behind bars for venting her anger
on the innocent pup.

She was arrested Sept. 12, the day of Poochie's senseless death, and was to be arraigned Sept 29.

During the raging battle, Garber allegedly punched and scratched her
husband, Bernard, so badly, police found him streaked with blood. She
then picked up a hammer and smashed the TV, threw the set at Bernard
and tossed the hammer at him too, cops said.

Garber then grabbed Poochie, walked to the window and allegedly threw him out.

Poochie died on impact six floors below. Garber raced downstairs,
wrapped the dog's body in a blanket and hurled it into a dumpster.

As you undoubtedly know,
the connection between animal cruelty and interpersonal violence has
been established for many years. FBI Supervisory Special Agent Allen
Brantley was quoted as saying "Animal cruelty... is not a harmless
venting of emotion in a healthy individual; this is a warning sign."
The circumstances in this case meet several of the factors that are
considered high-risk for future violence against humans, as outlined by Dr. Randall Lockwood, and Diane Garber has already reportedly assaulted her husband with a hammer.

While
it is quite common for victims of domestic abuse to refuse to press
charges against their abusers, as appears to be the situation with Mr.
Garber, Mrs. Garber should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law
for both her physical assault against her husband and for killing the
dog.
