Stand up for voting rights: Call on the U.S. Department of Justice to investigate the DMV closures in Alabama

Alabama—the birthplace of the Voting Rights Movement, the state where Bloody Sunday took place, and people died for their right to vote, is once again making it hard for people to vote.

Just last year, Alabama passed a strict voter ID law. Now, the state is making it almost impossible for people to get the necessary identification to vote.

Last week it was announced that 31 of the state's DMVs will be permanently closed, many in counties with the highest proportion of black residents. DMVs will close in every county in which African Americans make up over 75% of the registered voters.

We need to protect the voting rights of all eligible Americans, but we need your help to do it.
