Make October 9 National John Lennon Day!

John Winston Lennon was an activist, a musician, a husband, a father, and an inspiration. He devoted the final years of his life to spreading the message of peace and love to the world’s youth and worked hard to achieve what he did. He spent a massive amount of time, money, and energy on promoting peace and non-violence, and for that he deserves to be thanked.

John Lennon changed the world. He changed it with his music, with his message, even just with his presence. He influenced an entire generation to question the war and work towards a peaceful world. Millions of people around the world, young and old, followed his example and continue to do so to this day, working hard to spread the word of love and encouraging humanity to give peace a chance.

Many other deserving individuals have their own national holidays for their own reasons – Martin Luther King Jr. has a holiday for making an impact on the civil rights movement; did John Lennon not do the same for music? Christopher Columbus has a holiday for discovering America and changing history; did John Lennon not change history as well?

We, the promoters of peace and followers of John Lennon, firmly believe that a great deal of respect is owed to this man. By making October 9 (Lennon’s birthday) National John Lennon Day, we hope that the American public will acknowledge the impact he made on our world, and all the wonderful messages he left behind. We hope that he will get the respect he deserves, and we hope that one day the entire country will realize what he worked so hard for and try to help the cause in their own way.

By signing this petition, you’ll be putting us one step closer to saying “thank you” to a man who left behind a tremendous legacy—a man who changed our world.

John Lennon was a great man who inspired many people with his words and music. I believe that he needs a little recognition. John Lennon Fans around the world celebrate his birthday, Oct. 9, but what if that day was a national holiday in recognition of John? People would be more apt to recognize it if it were a national holiday, and John deserves to be recognized! If you're a Beatles/John Lennon fan, I'm sure you do something to recognize him on his birthday, but how cool would it be if the whole nation did it also? Its time that the great people of this world get the respect they deserve. Please sign this petition and tell the congress that you want a John Lennon day!!
