Urge ExxonMobil to increase funding for Tiger conservation

Tigers are facing increasing threats to their very survival in the wild from deforestation, illegal poaching/hunting and human-animal conflicts. ExxonMobil, the largest and most profitable corporation in the world has a tiger mascot to associate with the strength, power and beauty of the real tiger. Urge ExxonMobil to increase its funding for tiger and biodiversity conservation to 0.1% of Net profits every year ($36 Million in 2005).

Tigers are an endangered species in the wild. They face many threats to their survival from reduced forest cover, illegal poaching/hunting for body parts and human-animal conflicts. A recent report by Save the Tiger Fund (STF) cited the need for additional funding to cover the costs of various programs designed to help the tiger population recover and thrive. ExxonMobil has contributed $1 Million annually for the last 13 years (total $13 Million) to this effort. ExxonMobil has a tiger as a mascot. It represents the strength, power and beauty of the real tiger. Considering ExxonMobils' annual Net profit of $36 Billion for 2005, this contribution to STF is a drop in the bucket. ExxonMobil has a moral obligation to do a lot more to save the tiger. It is not unreasonable to ask of ExxonMobil to contribute 0.1% of the Net profit towards tiger and biodiversity conservation, which would be $36 Million in 2005. Efforts to save the tiger which is the top predator in its habitat, would also save all the other species in the habitat (major ones being elephant, rhino, leopard, orangutan). Please increase funding for tiger and biodiversity conservation.
