Texas Senator Ted Cruz has championed auctioning off vital wildlife habitat in National Parks and other public lands to the highest bidder. He's argued against marriage equality, essential environmental protections, women's rights, and health care and increased wages for America's working families.
Now Ted Cruz wants unlimited campaign contributions to advance his extreme right-wing agenda.
In 2014, Senator Cruz introduced federal legislation that would remove all caps on individual contributions to political campaigns. In March 2015, he renewed his call for passage of such legislation.
Funneling more money from free-spending billionaires into our elections would further corrupt our democracy and ensure that the senator's well-heeled supporters have the loudest voice when it comes to decisions about the air we breathe, the water, we drink, how much we are paid for our work, our health care decisions, whether our basic rights are respected under the law, and virtually every aspect of American life.
Tell the US Senate and House of Representatives that your voice matters and that you oppose efforts to undermine American democracy with even more money from anti-environment, anti-equality, and big money special interests.
Dear Decision Maker,
As a constituent, I strongly urge you to OPPOSE any legislation to eliminate individual limits on donations to political candidates. Such legislation, which was introduced in the 113th Congress as S. 2415, would undermine the power of my vote and the votes of other regular Americans by enabling super-wealthy donors to give unlimited amounts of cash to elect the candidates of their choice.
Like the vast majority of Americans, I believe that money has far too much influence in the political process. We must protect democracy for all people, and not just the privileged few.
