For one to be raped and be forced to co-parent a child, even in the 21st century, does not serve justice.
In the case of Nebraska state law where a victim was raped, 18-year old Noemi is no exception. the Rapist, currently unnamed, attacked Noemi with a charge of third-degree rape. According to the state law, third-degree rape is considered still as an okay right to parent. The state even proceeded to have a custody hearing for Noemi and the attacker. The result is a shared custody, and the father has even gained increased visits with the child.
He didn't want to have anything to do with her. He raped her. And now his choice is to see the child often, against anybody else's will. Noemi and her family feel helpless because of Nebraska state law and the attacker's demands.
And so, the proposal here is to give Noemi and her family justice. Why should he be able to have his say in having the child? Why is he not even in jail for what he did to Noemi?

I, Kelly Bechtold, am attempting to send this on to the Nebraskan government, yet I am not from the state of Nebraska. There is a better chance for a Nebraskan citizen to pass along this information in order to get the government to listen.
