Tell Congress: Investigate Racial Disparities in Hospital Care!

A crucial conversation is being left out in our nation's healthcare reform: the racial disparities in hospital care.

Every day, thousands of African-Americans, Asians, and numerous other minority groups face discrimination in hospitals. A study released by Jama Surgery revealed that minority patients suffer a higher risk of mortality in hospitals, even when excluding socioeconomic factors, hospital quality, and patient characteristics.

These gaps in the quality of hospital care are significant, and cannot be ignored. If Congress aims to improve our nation's healthcare system and the welfare of all Americans, they must consider proposals to help reduce health disparities among racial and ethnic groups.

Help bring light to the racial disparities in our nation's hospitals. Tell Congress to pass legislation to investigate and address the gap in hospital care!
Dear members of Congress,

A crucial conversation is being left out in our nation's healthcare reform: the racial disparities in hospital care.

A study done by Jama Surgery revealed that the minority patients have a higher risk in mortality - excluding AND including factors such as income, hospital quality, and the patient's medical history.

If our country wants to make a difference in bringing reform to our health care system, more research and studies need to be done to account for this major disparity, as well as include reform to hospital care such as cultural diversity training and language access.

Sincerely,
