1,805 9:02 am PST, Nov 13   Anonymous cardiff United Kingdom I think there are a lot of people out there who think that you are a kiljoy because you want them banned. I think as a society we need to look at the bigger picture and do things for the good of all, and if that means giving up these, in some cases, terrific banging noises that frighten the life out of the eldery, pets, the nervous and traumatised(maybe through conflict), I think it's our moral duty to listen to vunerable members of society. Throwing fireworks around wilnilly, lets face it, is moronic.
1,804 3:46 pm PST, Nov 7 Ms. Anonymous Chester le Street United Kingdom Yes
1,803 7:54 am PST, Nov 7 Mr. Anonymous NUNEATON United Kingdom Yes. Fireworks are fine until they get into the wrong hands, when they become dangerous.
1,802 6:04 am PST, Nov 7 Ms. Anonymous glasgow United Kingdom yes
1,801 10:38 am PST, Nov 5 Mrs. cassandra freestone lincoln United Kingdom yes they are dangerous and frighten small children and animals
1,800 9:32 am PST, Nov 5 Mrs. Anonymous Southsea United Kingdom yes
1,799 8:17 am PST, Nov 5 Ms. Anonymous West Lothian United Kingdom Organised displays with fully trained staff would be a good idea if it could be properly enforced, but I don't think it's possible. Too many people are irresponsible when it comes to fireworks, and fireworks are too dangerous a thing to be taken lightly. Yes, here you are, there's a bomb, go play with it in a crowd of people... makes no sense does it. I'd be in favour of an outright ban if I'm honest.
1,798 7:06 am PST, Nov 5 Mrs. Lissa Gordon Glasgow United Kingdom By selling fireworks we are essentially handing out small explosives to 'neds'. They use them as weapons against people and animals. It must be stopped. If you enjoy the sight of fireworks there are always organised events on locally.
1,797 12:21 pm PST, Nov 4   Jude Hunter Glasgow United Kingdom Yes they should be banned. Its not only pets who are terrified, spare a thought for foxes, badgers etc.
1,796 10:27 am PST, Nov 4 Mr. Scott Tyrrell Cumbernauld United Kingdom Yes, every year a child or animal is significantly hurt - let's stop the madness!
1,795 4:59 am PST, Nov 3 Mrs. Anonymous Cleethorpes United Kingdom Yes especially as most animals are scared
1,794 1:46 am PST, Nov 3 Mr. Anonymous Shrewsbury United Kingdom Get rid ofthem they're a menace!
1,793 5:58 am PST, Nov 2 Ms. Rebecca Cohen London United Kingdom Yes I do as they are let off late at night, well after the 11.00pm curfew. On Halloween night, they were let off from 5.05pm and finished at 1.00am the next morning. This is not reasonable.
1,792 4:33 am PST, Nov 2   Joanna McLoughlin scunthorpe United Kingdom Yes there are too many individuals that mis use them to hurt other children and animals. It doesn't matter that there is an underage limit as youths will still get their hands on them.
1,791 2:25 pm PDT, Oct 31 Ms. Anonymous Derby United Kingdom Yes totally get them banned! For me its a total nightmare, I have a 15 month old daughter and every evening its hard enough to get her to sleep let alone when all of these fireworks are going off! They scare her and she does not understand what is going off. Not only that I also have a dog who gets really scared causing her 2 bark and cry! Its not fun and for me it gets very depressing seeing my daughter and the dog get scared! Our dog is a outdoor dog so it is much louder for her and very sad to see! Thats just from a personal point of view but then you have deaths, fires, crime & Polloution...Ok so yes getting then banned for personal use would be the best outcome but hard to achive so why dont the government make purchase of fireworks only avaliable for licence holders. Meaning the pulic who wish to buy fireworks have to apply and purchace a licence in order to buy these explosives! Also putting up the prices of these things would mean less of the public buying them! Meaning silly teenages cannot get hold of these things like a piece of candy! But YES BAN THEM!
1,790 1:39 pm PDT, Oct 31 Mr. Anonymous Stafford United Kingdom Absolutely !
1,789 12:59 pm PDT, Oct 31 Ms. AMANDA LOYNS BOLTON United Kingdom Yes they are dangerous in the wrong hands, noisy and scare our pets and wildlife. I know people who have been seriously injured because of them and call for an immediate ban!
1,788 3:32 pm PDT, Oct 21   Anonymous Kent United Kingdom Totally.I have people that have a bonfire about 20ft high and wide(no joke) its totally out of control, all there friends and family come round. This all happens in the field next to my 4horses!They never warn us in advance what night they are going to do them and they aim them so they go off over my field instead of the other direction. They often throw fireworks into the fire, they are mindless idiots who should not be in charge of any form of gun powder.
1,787 2:24 pm PDT, Oct 21 Mrs. Anonymous Rugby United Kingdom fireworks should be restricted to just a few days per year, at organised displays put on my fully insured professionals who know who to keep everyone at the event as safe as possible. Fireworks going off for months at a time at all hours distresses pets, babies/toddlers and long-suffering parents.
1,786 2:54 pm PDT, Oct 2 Mr. Diego Osorio Bogota Colombia Yes, I do.In most of Colombian cities, there have been prohibiting the sale of fireworks, specially in december for the Christamas, but there are so many people who buy, and sale, an allow their kids play with fireworks.Besides that, I have seen, so many ignorant people under the influence of alcohol, who irresponsibly use their fireworks, and children, animals, elder people, and people with no relation to them are injured when a"tote","volador" or "cohete"(neme of this artefacts in Colombian Spanish) fall over them. Please, fireworks only can be used by professionals, not by drunken, ignorant people!!!
1,785 1:08 am PDT, Sep 1 Mrs. Hazel Voice Durban South Africa YES...!!! Please visit www.voiceforthevoiceless.org.za and find out more
1,784 3:33 am PDT, Aug 14 Mr. David Nisbet Kirkintilloch United Kingdom Yes. They are a great danger to health & safety and a great annoyance.
1,783 12:16 am PDT, Aug 2 Ms. Carla Crane Surfside Beach United States BAN THEM!!!! They are dangerous, they are loud, disrespectful to others, and leave trash all over the beaches here! They are nothing but a nuisance for some fool to make a huge butt out of themselves at the expense of others'. Cant sleep for work/school, cant enjoy the beach at night because of the dangers and noise, cant enjoy the beach during the day because of all the trash in the sand. It's affecting the environment and wildlife as well. so yes BAN THEM!!!!
1,782 8:59 am PDT, Jul 15   Susan Toennies Aviston United States Yes they should be banned. Not everyone likes fireworks, most people forget that. They scare A LOT of people and they are complete torture to most pets. Outside dogs in fenced areas or pens are forced to take the torture of the loud fireworks, and they are even louder to animals with their sensitive hearing. Fireworks are dangerous, loud, scary, and not even that pretty to watch. The cons to fireworks GREATLY outweigh the pro's if there are any pro's.
1,781 1:55 pm PDT, Jul 7   NEIL FRANKLIN WARNER Indianapolis United States The fact is: most of these yahoos setting off their canons aren't even sure what holiday they're celebrating. Besides, it terrifies my dog so much he's afraid to go outside for weeks after the Fourth.
1,780 9:40 am PDT, Jul 6   Anonymous asdf United States Fireworks are awesome! who would ever want to ban them i mean come on people its mostly celebrating our independence or new years i mean if u know how to use them they shouldn't be banned.
1,779 3:11 am PDT, Jul 6   Anonymous Saint Paul United States I love fireworks only when I'm ready. I hate them when I'm not. I think most people feel this way. It's only fair for everybody, not just pyromasturbaters who can never get enough to have a scheduled event that is spectacular and not pyrojunkfood in every driveway/alley/yard at any time.
1,778 1:51 pm PDT, Jul 5 Mr. Christopher Peters Valparaiso United States I think that fireworks are dangerous and should only be used by professionals. Not to mention they pollute the air we breath, and if we want to heal our dying planet we need to put an end to things like the private use of fireworks.
1,777 7:12 pm PDT, Jul 4 Mr. David Miller Pittston United States Yes. Fireworks should be banned from public use due to the fact that people are too irresponsible and are careless when it comes to discharging them. When it comes to people having consideration for their neighbors early morning work schedules, well, you might as well forget that notion will ever cross their brains. Thanks for reading...PLEASE...get this passed!
1,776 8:55 pm PDT, Jul 3 Mr. Fred Thomas Terre Haute United States Fireworks should be banned from public use due to the fact that people are too irresponsible and are careless when it comes to discharging them. When it comes to people having consideration for their neighbors early morning work schedules, well, you might as well forget that notion will ever cross their brains. Thanks for reading...PLEASE...get this passed!
1,775 2:07 pm PDT, Jul 1 Mr. Anonymous Chickasha United States The majority of fireworks are purchased by people who can barely pay their bills. There are too many irresponsible people in this country. As the population continues to grow, so does the number of irresponsible morons. I don't think it is that big of a deal to ban explosives.
1,773 3:53 pm PDT, Jun 4 Ms. Anonymous fdsa United States fireworks are freedom, death is free, why not ban skateboards? Hasen't any here even seen some of the 30 billion ways there are to die. RiP and pray for the children! peace out humans....
1,772 8:20 am PDT, Apr 21   Kathleen Cole Circleville United States yes, they are very dangerous
1,771 6:10 am PST, Jan 2 Mrs. Nicole Lighthill Houston United States I agree that organized events would limit the excessive fireworks that have been going off in our neighborhood since before Christmas. Some of us still have to work during the holidays and it's really hard to sleep through the loud explosions.
1,770 5:37 am PST, Jan 2 Mrs. LINDSAY BALL FALMOUTH United Kingdom Organised events you can prepare for. They should have an advertised start and end time. Any fireworks other than advertised and organized displays should be banned. My 15 mth old dog is now traumatised because - on several occasions - she has been outside after we thought all the noise had ended, but stray private fireworks have been let off.
1,769 9:01 pm PST, Dec 31   Sarah Firebaugh Joliet United States People setting off fireworks do not take into consideration those neighbors who have to rise early for work or their children in the morning. They will set them off until the wee hours and as a result there are many people who can't sleep well for 10 days surrounding celebratory days when fireworks are allowed. In my rural community, it is preferred by the town government that fireworks are set off in town, risking fire to my home and others, and also risking children's safety, rather than them being set off somewhere out in the surrounding areas, miles away from homes. They prefer this so it doesn't risk fire in someone's crops. I say if someone is stupid enough to allow fireworks on their property, then it's their own risk they take to have their fields burn. But I have no control over my neighbors setting off what are technically EXPLOSIVES that rain down ash and sparks on my roof.
1,768 5:09 pm PST, Dec 29 Ms. sam dizon Cainta, Rizal Philippines YEAH. I mean, feel bad for the dogs! AND our environment. And I am asthmatic so I hate the smoke from the fireworks :P
1,767 3:40 pm PST, Nov 7 Ms. Lauren Stevenson Blackpool United Kingdom Yes, completely. Its half 11 at night here and there are fireworks still being let off. Now technically thats illegal, but people dont listen. My poor dog is traumatised. People dont think of the animals and families!
1,766 1:06 pm PST, Nov 7 Mrs. anne martin scotland United Kingdom yes the effects on the elderly, the very young have lasting effects of fear .my animals have to be given drugs to make them sleep .if it was only one night ,at least this would be barable.
1,765 10:46 am PST, Nov 6 Mr. Karl Duke Hull United Kingdom I do indeed, it has been a long standing problem in the UK and other countries of burns from thrown fireworks and of noise pollutions from people obviously with money to burn.
1,764 3:56 pm PST, Nov 5 Mr. Sean McLean Hull United Kingdom yes i do!! because young kids are at risk on my estate and i had a firework thrown at me from a moving vehicle obviously it was from an adult because you have to be atleast 17 to start your driving! it put my health and safety at risk as i had to run to avoid the damage from the explosion! and i lost my wallet doing so!! i really believe that there should only be firework displays and that fireworks should be made illeagle for public use unless they subscribe them for a wedding or something like that! please please PLEASE think about this commewnt because enough is enough! im only 19 and i believe fireworks should be made illeagle to the public!! how long is it until someone seriously gets hurt!
1,763 12:21 pm PST, Nov 5 Mrs. Kathy Parker Bridgwater United Kingdom We live in a society so concerned about safety that climbing frames are not allowed in childrens playgrounds because they may fall, and yet our laws allow the sale of explosives to anyone.
1,762 11:32 am PST, Nov 5 Ms. Anonymous Burnley United Kingdom I believe fireworks should be banned due to the fact I have a two year old son and every year so far he has been kept awake for the full week surrounding bonfire night due to all the local households holding thier own displays. These displays go on late into the night and show no consideration for those with young children and animals. My two cats are too terified to even go near the door this time of year.
1,761 11:56 pm PST, Nov 2 Ms. m gordon crewe United Kingdom yes. i enjoy fireworks, but their unrestricted use in the run-up to, and after, nov 5th is often annoying and dangerous
1,760 10:18 am PDT, Jul 6 Mr. Anonymous fort wayne United States Yes, ban them! Fireworks have been recently made legal in Indiana. Now we have fireworks set off by neighbors, daily. Sometimes as often as every 30 seconds, very stressful. It seems strange that people are worried about availability of explosives to terrorists, yet any idiot can buy thousands of pounds of explosives, in the form of fireworks. (My neighbors are terrorists of a different kind, but cause terror none the less.) A very big oversight. Ban them, the sooner the better!
1,759 12:12 pm PDT, Apr 16   Adam V Paul Timisoara Romania I absolutely am in agreement with banning fireworks apart from organized events.
1,757 8:40 pm PST, Feb 3 Mr. Tom Jenkins Fontana United States No, it is our right as americans to celeberate our indpendence with fireworks at our homes with our family's.
1,755 11:36 am PST, Dec 26   Anonymous Kent United Kingdom Yes. I am in Year 9 at school and in our English class we are doing debate. My topic is exactly this and I think fireworks SHOULD be banned due to stress and how unsafe they can be. I can give you some frightening statistics, such as- in 2004 SIXTEEN animals were put to sleep in the UK alone after being severely stressed due to the explosions from fireworks. Stop fireworks, apart from when used by trained professionals.
1,754 7:05 pm PST, Dec 5 Mr. David Road Kent United Kingdom Pro's are trained for years... public dose not have a clue but uses almost the same material.
1,753 3:16 am PST, Nov 7 Mrs. Sam McKinven Livingston United Kingdom fireworks casue great stress to pets, owners, small children, elderly and the poorly, they polute our atmosphere and the people who use them do not clear up the leftovers - BAN SALES TO THE PUBLIC
1,752 11:51 am PST, Nov 5 Mrs. Anonymous manchester United Kingdom they should be band to noisy scare animals and young children also dangerous weapon in wrong hands
1,751 2:00 pm PST, Nov 4   Melanie Clark Crowborough United Kingdom Fireworks are safest in the hands of trained proffessionals.

Ban fireworks except for organised events.

Fireworks are beautiful and even when used sensibly are dangerous to wildlife, pets and all people near by. Put in the wrong hands and they are often used as weapons to deliberately hurt people or animals. Why do we celebrate the day someone tried to blow up the Government anyway? Explosives are explosives whether they are pretty or not and should be banned to the public. Organised events offer safety and a better display.
