They will set them off until the wee hours and as a result there are many people who can't sleep well for 10 days surrounding celebratory days when fireworks are allowed. In my rural community, it is preferred by the town government that fireworks are set off in town, risking fire to my home and others, and also risking children's safety, rather than them being set off somewhere out in the surrounding areas, miles away from homes. They prefer this so it doesn't risk fire in someone's crops. I say if someone is stupid enough to allow fireworks on their property, then it's their own risk they take to have their fields burn. But I have no control over my neighbors setting off what are technically EXPLOSIVES that rain down ash and sparks on my roof. | |

Sometimes as often as every 30 seconds, very stressful. It seems strange that people are worried about availability of explosives to terrorists, yet any idiot can buy thousands of pounds of explosives, in the form of fireworks. (My neighbors are terrorists of a different kind, but cause terror none the less.) A very big oversight. Ban them, the sooner the better! |

I can give you some frightening statistics, such as- in 2004 SIXTEEN animals were put to sleep in the UK alone after being severely stressed due to the explosions from fireworks. Ban fireworks except for organised events.
Fireworks are beautiful and even when used sensibly are dangerous to wildlife, pets and all people near by. Put in the wrong hands and they are often used as weapons to deliberately hurt people or animals. Why do we celebrate the day someone tried to blow up the Government anyway? Explosives are explosives whether they are pretty or not and should be banned to the public. Organised events offer safety and a better display.
