Stand with Ted and others experiencing homelessness and poverty

Imagine losing your home, freedom, and sense of pride – overnight. Not knowing where you were going to sleep or find your next meal.

That's what happened to Ted when the van he owned, was living in, and used to visit his family broke down and he could not find the means to pay for the needed repairs. Suddenly, he was homeless, cut off from his family, and felt powerless and isolated.

Ted's story is, unfortunately, all too common in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside. But luckily for Ted, he found First United.

Ted was welcomed as family, provided a place to stay, food to eat, and given the help he needed to start getting back on his feet. "It's just really helpful to not have to worry about how you’re going to eat," he said.

Ted is just one of 500 community members who benefit from advocacy, housing, healing and hospitality, in a community space that supports and celebrates the inherent strengths of all people, of all walks of life every day.

You can stand up for people like Ted and stand with First United to make sure people experiencing homelessness and poverty in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside have a place to belong, receive love, and have hope.
