Tell President Obama to Invest in Kids in his Budget

All kids deserve a strong start in life. At home, that means making sure all children have access to high-quality early education. Around the globe, that means investing in programs that save the lives of babies and young children.

2 out of 5 American children aren't enrolled in preschool. Without access to high-quality early education programs, many children fall behind — especially those living in poverty. We must invest in high-quality early childhood education to give all kids a fair start.

Abroad, too many lives of babies and mothers are cut short by preventable causes. Every year, 6.3 million children die before age five.

Send a message to President Obama today! Ask him to make children a priority in his 2016 budget.
Subject line: Invest in kids in your Fiscal Year ‘16 budget

Dear President Obama:

As you prepare your Fiscal Year 2016 budget, please make children at home and abroad a priority.

At home, I urge you to continue to provide robust investments in early childhood education, including high-quality preschool programs, child care, and home visiting programs to help ensure that all kids have the best chance to succeed in school and have a bright future. Children from middle and lower income homes do not arrive at school with opportunities equal to those of their more well off peers. High-quality early childhood education is an investment this country needs to make in order to give all kids a fair start.

Globally, I urge you to invest $850 million in maternal, newborn and child survival programs and $200 million for global nutrition programs. Under U.S. leadership, the world has lowered child mortality rates by nearly 50% since 1990. This is a great success story! Continued investments in programs that we know work can help end preventable deaths of pregnant women, newborns, and children.
