Cancel Barbaric NBC Sports Network Shark Hunters

Shark species have been in decline for years and loss of species could profoundly affect worldwide ecosystems. Yes, NBC Sports has created a new show called Shark Hunters that showcases the activities of people who hunt sharks as a competitive sport.

The website for the show describes it as "The documentary-reality series features three East Coast shark tournaments – each more than a quarter century old – and highlights five captains battling against each other, the sharks, rough conditions and the Atlantic. Anglers from all over the world venture to the Northeast Atlantic to compete. Approximately 630 boats will have a collective six days to catch the biggest shark."

How can watching people duke it out to capture and kill the biggest shark (and probably plenty of others along the way) possibly be considered entertainment? I don't want to watch people killing magnificent marine animals for thrills and money. It's cruel, inhumane, and with millions of sharks being killed each year, simply inexcusable.

This show should not be allowed to air.
