Demand Retraction of Statement Equating Women to Smokers

Target: NRCC Chairman Pete Sessions
Sponsored by: Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee
Did you hear the latest in anti-women attacks by the Republicans? National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Pete Sessions made controversial remarks defending the insurance industry's practice of charging women more than men for health insurance by equating being a woman to being a smoker:

REP. PALLONE (D-NJ): Why should a woman pay more than a man?

REP. SESSIONS (R-TX): Well now. We're all different. Why should a smoker pay more than a non-smoker?

For Representative Sessions and the GOP leadership, being a woman is a condition worthy of discrimination. And they're standing by the insurance industry's right to charge women more than men for the same coverage.

Tell NRCC Chairman Sessions: Women deserve equal access to quality, affordable health insurance.

Dear Chairman Sessions,

I am appalled to read of your statement in the Rules Committee meeting in which you suggested that charging more for treating women's basic health needs was equivalent to charging more for smokers.

Insurance industries should not have the right to charge women more for the same coverage.

Please withdraw your remark.

I am sick and tired of hearing about smokers. If you are so concerned about cost of health care etc give up using your car! It is 100 times more deadly than smoking. When will this country treat everyone equal like the constitution says!

You do not represent me as a Republican. I am more than appalled at your statement. I can't write what I would really like to say. I would be stooping down to your narrow minded backwardness and I am a better person than that.
