Stop Famine Across East Africa and Yemen

Famine has been declared in parts of South Sudan and over one hundred people in Somalia have already died of hunger, driven by drought, food shortages and the turmoil of conflict. But this is about more than just food, it's about the potential of a generation.

Emergency funding helps to respond to the effects of malnutrition, meet the health and nutrition needs of pregnant and breastfeeding women and their children. Australian support gives people alternatives so they can cope through this crisis.

The Australian Government has announced $20 million for Somalia and South Sudan, but the United Nations says $5.8 billion is needed by the end of March 2017 to avert widespread famine across East Africa. Australia can do more!

We need Australian action in line with the scale of this crisis. Ask Foreign Minister Julie Bishop to double our life-saving humanitarian assistance today.
Dear Foreign Minister, Julie Bishop. We call on you to urgently double Australia's life-saving humanitarian assistance to the looming famine in East Africa to $40 million, and do our part to help people in great need.
