Tell Arizona Lawmakers: It's Time to Protect LGBT People From Discrimination!

Under Arizona law, there are no explicit protections prohibiting discrimination against gay and transgender people in employment, housing and public accommodations. Each day, thousands of hardworking Arizonans are vulnerable to discrimination, simply because of who they are or who they love.

But in 2016, we can change that—by passing legislation to update Arizona's civil rights law to prohibit discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity.

A bipartisan majority of Arizonans already agree that discrimination is wrong. And already, more than 1,000 businesses have joined the call to make the Grand Canyon State open for business to everyone. That's because the people of Arizona—and the businesses that call our state home—know that when everyone is protected from discrimination, our communities and our economy are stronger.

Now it's time for lawmakers to act. Take action today to urge your elected officials to pass comprehensive legislation in 2016 protecting LGBT Arizonans from discrimination.
Dear [Legislator]:,

Right now in Arizona, hardworking people can be fired from their jobs, denied housing or denied service in a public space simply because of who they are or whom they love.

Those aren't Arizona values. That's why as your constituent, I'm writing to urge you to support modernizing Arizona's civil rights law to prohibit discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity.

Arizonans overwhelmingly know discrimination is wrong—and the polling proves it. A strong bipartisan majority of people in our state support treating LGBT people fairly and equally under the law.

Businesses agree too. Already, more than 1,000 businesses have signed a pledge in support of keeping Arizona open for business to everyone. Businesses know that discrimination harms our bottom line—and our economy suffers as a result. Only by codifying into state law that no one should face legal discrimination can companies in our state best attract and retain the vibrant workforce we need to compete in the global marketplace.

Please stand with your constituents and the majority of Arizona residents who believe it's time for all Arizonans to be protected from discrimination.

Sincerely,

[Your name]
