Tell Congress to Save Children’s Lives from Deadly Malaria

Malaria is one of the deadliest diseases in Africa, especially for young children. Every 60 seconds, a child dies from malaria, a disease spread by a single mosquito bite.

It doesn't have to be this way. The truth is, Congress CAN help save children's lives from malaria. The U.S. has demonstrated critical leadership in the fight against malaria for more than a decade; by investing in programs like the President's Malaria Initiative (PMI) and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (Global Fund), U.S. leadership has helped to save 6.2 million lives worldwide and reduce childhood deaths by 69% in Africa since 2000.

If we don’t continue to urge support from Congress, these gains could be lost. Now is the time to weigh in and urge Congress to support funding for PMI and the Global Fund and help protect millions of families from malaria by providing the resources for simple and effective malaria prevention tools like insecticide-treated bednets.

Let's make sure saving children's lives is a priority. Send a letter to your members of Congress today and urge them to support funding to fight malaria.

Dear [Decision Maker],

I strongly urge you to make the fight against malaria a priority in global health funding. As someone who is dedicated to ending malaria deaths, I hope that you will vote for the highest possible funding level for malaria programs, including the President's Malaria Initiative and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

Through cost-effective solutions like insecticide-treated bednets and U.S.-led global partnerships, we are making progress in the fight against malaria, a disease that not only infects millions each year, but has significant effects on economies worldwide. With continued support from Congress, we can save lives by preventing malaria.

I am a supporter of Nothing But Nets — a global, grassroots campaign to raise awareness and funding to fight malaria, a leading cause of death among children in Africa. I know there are a lot of priorities competing for the attention of Congress, however, this is a particularly important cause to me and many others in my community and around the world, and I ask for your support.

Please use your voice in Congress to support funding to end deaths from malaria.

Sincerely,
[Your Name]
