Let Washington Vote - Support Equal Rights for D.C.

Target: U.S. Congress
Sponsored by: DC Vote

Like all Americans, the 600,000 residents of the District of Columbia pay income taxes and serve their country in times of war. Teachers, doctors, veterans, military personnel, parents – all pay billions per year in federal income taxes.

Yet for more than 200 years, District residents have been denied voting representation in Congress, the very body that controls every aspect of the city's judicial, executive, and legislative functions. A bill is before Congress that would give DC residents their first-ever voting member in the House of Representatives, but it is being filibustered by a minority of Senators.

Time has come for Congress to end taxation without representation.

Tell Congress that you support bringing democracy to America’s Capital!

Because everyone deserves to have their voices heard & choose representatives to speak up for them. After all, this was one of the grievances listed in the Declaration of Independence. Why should what was not okay for King George be okay now?

It's absurd to think that American citizens don'nt have the right to vote. Get with it congress give them the right.

There are so many issues with this government that I don't understand. All Americans deserve equal representation because they work hard for this country are entitled. About the voting for president I don't understand why we have super delegates that take our rights away. Also what is the purpose of a caucas. Let the American population be strong and make the decisions. Why should Americans bother vote if our decisions are not going to count?

It's not fair that American citizens in good standing cannot cast their ballot like the rest of us!

It is unbelievable to me that these residents do not have representation. Are they not citizens of the United States? They are and therefore must be represented!!
