Tell President Obama to Protect All Our Wolves Now

Wolves in the United States have been persecuted for more than a century. Today, they survive in just 5 percent of their historic range in the lower 48.

Although wolves have started to rebound in the northern Rockies and near the Great Lakes, they're far from recovered.

The Center for Biological Diversity has called on the Obama administration to finally draw up a roadmap for restoring wolf populations in suitable habitat across the country. Returning wolves to their rightful place as a key species on the landscapes requires a national plan for recovery -- otherwise it'll never get done.

Unfortunately, the Obama administration has failed to respond to our petition. We need your help.

There were once 2 million wolves in North America. Just a few thousand exist in the lower 48 states today in a few isolated pockets -- that's a recipe for extinction.

Send a letter today to tell the Obama administration that these majestic animals deserve better.
SUBJECT: Protect All of America's Wolves

Dear President Obama,

Once -- before bounties, government-funded extermination projects and expansive human settlement -- wolves freely roamed much of the United States. Scientists estimate there were once about 2 million wolves in North America.

Most are gone now. Today, a mere 5,000 to 6,000 wolves occupy roughly 5 percent of their historic range: a recipe for extinction. We need your action now to save these majestic animals before it's too late to fully recover the species.

The Center for Biological Diversity filed a petition with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to develop a national recovery plan for wolves. The plan would provide a much-needed road map for establishing wolf populations in suitable habitats across the country and saving this wild and unique creature.

I'm writing today to ask you to publicly announce your support for a national wold recovery plan and to urge the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to act on the Center for Biological Diversity's petition for a national wolf recovery plan.
