The Principal of North Perth Primary School is planning to install a 1.5M high fence along the Albert St boundary of North Perth Primary School oval and also fence/gates will be installed preventing access between Albert and Olive Streets.

As a local community we the unsigned object to the following:
1. The lack of consultation by the Principal with the local community about the proposed fencing thereby contradicting Department of Education and Training guidelines regarding community consultation over such matters.
2. The issues raised by the Principal regarding children's safety contradicts the results published in the North Perth Primary School 2014 Annual Report of a survey conducted stating that safety was perceived to be very good by Pupils, Parents and Teachers.
3. The fence will not be in keeping with the local area/environment, and creates a negative barrier to what is currently a beautiful open space that has been used by the school and community for over 100 years. The gating/fencing of Olive St also restricts access to a public road (Olive St) that will especially impact upon several local residents who have disabilities and rely on using Olive St to access North Perth Plaza. Also, a high fence blatantly states to the general public that they and their children are not welcome to use the new community, City of Vincent and school funded climbing dome out of school hours.
