Help Historic Public Lands Protections Become Law

Last week, the Omnibus Public Lands Management Act fell two votes short of passing in the U.S. House. The Act would secure wilderness designation for more than 2 million acres in nine states, protect over 1,000 miles of rivers and permanently establish a 26-million acre National Landscape Conservation System.

The Act would also be the largest expansion of the wilderness system in 15 years - including the eight years of environmental degradations under the Bush Administration.

In the next week, the U.S. House will have another opportunity to pass legislation that will ensure these historic protections become law. Let your representative know that you support the protection of America's most cherished wild places for future generations.
Dear Representative [Name],

I'm contacting you today to voice my strong support of the Omnibus Public Lands Management Act.

While it is disappointing that this legislation did not pass in the U.S. House of Representatives last week, I am glad to hear that very soon we'll have another opportunity for this landmark legislation to become law.

In the coming days, the Omnibus Public Lands Management Act will return to the U.S. House as an amendment to the Revolutionary War and War of 1812 Battlefield Protection Act (H.R. 146).

I hope you will support for the Omnibus Public Lands Management Act by voting 'YES' to the Revolutionary War and War of 1812 Battlefield Protection Act (H.R. 146).
