We are tired of hearing piece after piece of bad environmental news without hearing about plans of action from the elected leaders of the US, the world's biggest polluting nation.
The war to save the planet now needs soldiers and leaders, awareness and passion, commitment and even fearlessness. We want it to be your first priority.

| 28 | 5:43 pm PST, Jan 23 | Debby R | The destruction of the rainforests and other native forests for agriculture and biofuels has gone too far. It is time to create more sustainable systems, using permaculture methods, small intensive farms, rather than big agro-business. Local industries need to be encouraged, and local skills built within each bioregion. The global economic meltdown also calls for a completely new economic system. | |

| 23 | 6:59 am PST, Jan 27 | Ms. | Victoria Mary Stong / Animal&Community Activist | We need to treat our planet much better. If Horses were treated better and they were given excellent Horse sneakers to wear that made pulling things a lot less stress on their bodies, we could use them in certain areas of the city and country. *I want to bring to your attention a man slaughtering Horses:The murderous sponsor Mr. Cunningham of the current petition "Membership Input Futurity and Derby Plans" got angry when I left a very RESPECTFUL comment asking that he put in his rules not to slaughter Horses for his Horseracing business. In response he deleted my commments 2 times! He also emailed me that it's necessary to slaughter Horses in his business! I LOVE this petition and signed around 50 anti-slaughter Horse petitions so far. I ASK EVERYONE TO SIGN "Membership Input Futurity and Derby Plans" PETITION SOLELY TO TELL HIM TO STOP SLAUGHTERING HORSES. You can also email him and tell him not to slaughter Horses as a part of his business by clicking on his name on top. His excuse was that I'm not a member, but tens of non-members are signing his petition. Please help in the prevention of Horse Slaughter and sign Mr. Cunnningham's petition asking him to amend his rules stating not to slaughter and kill Horses but to instead send them to a sanctuary when they are unwanted? I want to greatly thank the sponsor of this petition their hard work and effort to save the Horses so that not so many horses will suffer under the hands of heartless and cruel people. God bless you. People like you make this world a better place in which to live just like the animals we all protect!~~~~~~~*For what it's worth; I'm a Former Student & Horsebackrider at The Knox School in St. James, New York and also participated proudly in 3 Horse Shows on their Campus. The Knox School is a very fine and upstanding Private School with an on-Campus Horse Stable that has been featured on WB11(TV)for being one of the top 10 Private Schools in the Country. / * See a picture of me at www.Beadquilt.org at the bottom of the first page with my story of working in Ground Zero 9/11-11/10/01. |

| 19 | 9:51 pm PDT, Jun 2 | Ms. | Anonymous | Because I don,t want to live on another planet.I have every right to be concerned because the americans never asked for the planet to destroyed in the first place.I am very upset that nothing has been done to fight global warming. Pollution is killing our planet I demand an liveable planet for the future which means action should be taken now to stop global warming once and for all.Clean energy is a demand if humans are to survive on this planet.another thing stop cutting our trees and make everything possible recycelable.cleaner cars should also count for a liveable planet. We need to start makeing the right choices today by everyone useing compact flouresant light bulbs. It,s sad to see the only planet we have is being destroyed everyday we live.Global warming is also a threat to mankind. |
| 18 | 2:37 pm PDT, Apr 1 | Frank Mancuso | The planet will survive. Environmentalism isn't about the earth it's about us. I don't think it will be livable as we consume the remaining oil, forests, open spaces. Humanity will be nothing more then environmental refugees fighting for the few crumbs left. | |
| 17 | 5:48 pm PDT, Mar 23 | Aiz T | ||
| 16 | 2:52 pm PST, Feb 11 | Mr. | Justin Miron | The beauty of the earth, the livability, and well-being of all organisms and ecosystems on earth, depend on the actions taken in the next few decades to stave off the worst effects of global climate change. |
| 15 | 10:45 am PST, Feb 1 | dave sennett | because we as humans are destroying it and we need to better understand how we can save our natural resources. | |
| 14 | 10:25 am PST, Jan 23 | Mrs. | I. R. Heller | Main concern is the DU radiation poisoning - being brought with the clouds all around the world and which is affecting every human being, especially those who participated in the recent wars, while the medical assistance to all has been cut back. DU and all radiation poisoning affects the reproductive organs in men and women, with the great possibility to result in malformed children. All this is verifiable and is an international tragedy no politician dares to touch (up to now). |
| 13 | 4:57 pm PST, Jan 3 | Mr. | Anonymous | I'm a DC resident. We've never had much snow in past years, but it HAS snowed. We're now in January and it doesn't look like we'll be getting anything but rain. The scary thing is, we just came out of a summer that had quite a few days that were near unbearably hot. This feels more like an extended fall or spring, and judging from the recent news, things don't look to be improving. I just hope that the worst case scenario can be prevented in time. |
| 12 | 11:44 pm PST, Dec 13 | Anonymous | Planet earth is the only planet we know as home global warming could destroy the planet and life on earth. We need to kick the oil habbit to power our appliances and automobiles.Cleaner enregy is a demand to stop global warming.who invented the cars anyway? If the people knew they wren,t safe for our planet they should have never been used oil is the number one polluter.I would have loved to be around when people used horses to get around. They don,t use gas or oil and most important don,t cause global warming. a demand for a liveable planet should granted to all the people on this earth. Why hasn,t action been taken to stop global warming if it,s not stoped there will be many deaths dont wait until it,s to late act now our lives and yours will depend on that. | |
| 11 | 8:37 pm PST, Nov 9 | Ms. | Deirdre Moore | |
| 10 | 8:12 pm PST, Nov 9 | Annie Malone | We must become signatories to the Kyoto Treaty. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kyoto_Protocol | |
| 9 | 6:48 pm PST, Nov 9 | Dee Lilley | "Mars ain’t the kind of place to raise your kids. In fact it’s cold as hell..." | |
| 8 | 11:08 am PST, Nov 8 | Mr. | Anonymous | |
| 7 | 12:59 am PST, Nov 8 | Mr. | Donald Burr | We cannot continue to exist as we are, using the non-renewable resources of the planet at the rate that we are. We, as a society, need to re-examine our lifestyle and make some hard choices, lest we leave a legacy of death and waste to our next generation. |
| 6 | 7:51 pm PST, Nov 7 | Sam E. Procell | There's no need in destroying the world in the manner it's already been damaged simply to pinch a penny | |
| 5 | 4:10 am PST, Nov 7 | Ms. | Kim Gibson | Peak oil is an issue that will potentially rip civilizations apart. Especially those civilizations so dependent upon oil. Such as ours. |
| 4 | 5:58 pm PST, Nov 6 | Mr. | Chad Page | |
| 3 | 5:51 pm PST, Nov 6 | Dr. | Mel Riser | We need more renewable ONSITE electricity panels should be rebated by the govt. |
| 2 | 4:54 pm PST, Nov 6 | Mr. | L. Brian Woodroof | This is the only planet we have. There is no second chance. Either we take care of it, or we perish. It is that simple. |

We Unequivocally Demand A Liveable Planet
If you are not informed already, please become educated on these subjects: global climate change, peak oil, environmental crisis...and then act. Tell your colleagues, and sponsor legislation. We want to avert:
* a terrible energy crisis coming soon
* environmental disaster in our oceans, fresh water, air, soil, food supply, and wilderness areas
*the rapid progression our planet is making to a point of no return for disastrous climate change.
If you don't know much about any of this, some places to start are:
http://www.climatecrisis.net
http://www.newscientist.com
http://www.enn.com
http://www.stopglobalwarming.org/
http://www.nativeenergy.com/
http://www.drydipstick.com/
http://www.peakoil/blogspot.com
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article13112.htm
If you wish, you can meet a few of us at:
http://community.livejournal.com/boiling_frog/
http://community.livejournal.com/peak_oil
We know we can't continue indefinitely with an oil-based economy. Oil supplies are finite and burning oil is harmful to the environment. We need an emergency "Manhattan Project"-type of all-out effort to develop green energy.
We know we can't continue current farming, fishing, land usage, water usage, and energy usage practices. We are headed towards a collision course of environmental disaster in multiple areas.
We know we must reduce our carbon emissions now and face the fact of global climate change that is already occurring.
The science is in: there is trouble ahead.
Those who are still questioning that something needs to be done now are either protecting narrow business interests...
(not realizing that fixing the problems NOW is the only economically feasible thing to do: see the Stern report, at http://www.cambridge.org/catalogue/catalogue.asp?isbn=9780521700801),
...or are simply uninformed.
We want and need a liveable planet for our old age and for our children and future generations.
On this issue, we do not care what political party you belong to, nor what sex, sexual orientation, color, age, religion, disability status, class, income level, or weight you are. We, the undersigned, have put aside our differences to unite on the issue of saving the planet, and we want you to do so as well.
Please respond to our concern about these issues. Let us and the world know what YOU propose, as a person in a position of elected power and influence, to avoid and/or mitigate these crises that loom clearly on the horizon.
There are things that can be done, and be done now. But the public has to learn of them. There is legislation that could do much good, but it must be written, sponsored, and voted into law.
We thank you in advance for rising to meet the biggest and most important challenge of our generation.
