Stop Trophy Hunting!

To Mr. Faison, I am writing this petition as deeply concerned about this issue, many feel as i do and can not be simply ignored any more. We are animal lovers and part of a caring community for the welfare of the animals. - VPSA (Virginia Peninsula Sportmen's Association) was formed in March 13th, 1940. Mr. Thomas Barclay was the first president. The first Big Game contest was held on September 23rd, 1940. Deer was legally killed prior to 1940. This make it the oldest contest to date. Mr. George B. Johnson was the next president in 1941. He went to work on developing the Virginia scoring system which was adopted by the membership of the VSPA and the Virginian Game commission from which they work directly together In 1949, The Game commission decided to divide into two regional championships. The Eastern and Western. The top winners compete for the State Championship. VSPA would sponsor the Eastern Regional  Championships and the Rockingham - Harrisonburg Chapter of the I Zaak Walton League of America (IWLA) would sponsor the Western Regional Championship. The state contest is alternated between the two regions every year. The association presents the George B. Johnson Whitetail Deer Award to any individual that enters the largest scoring deer in the annual State Championship contest. Animals that are being killed are Deer, Black bear, Wild Turkeys and even a Bob cat! Trophy hunting is barbaric and cruel and should be stopped! Your website is proof of this. Photos posted on your website site by members and non-members showing off their kill. Whether some animals are harvested or not, it still is killing an animal in cold blood no matter how dressed-up. We are angry and deeply saddened by the plight of these animals. There is no regard for these animals or you see is a trophy for the wall. It is inhumane! This kind of hunting, have no place in modern day society.
