Boycott ExxonMobil

Target: ExxonMobil Executives
Sponsored by: Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund
ExxonMobil is spearheading efforts to open America's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil drilling. It is sabotaging efforts to slow global warming and refusing to put its huge profits to good use developing clean, renewable energy or supporting fuel efficiency. The company is still trying to get out of paying the full amount it owes fishermen and Native Americans hurt by the 1989 Valdez spill, which killed hundreds of thousands of seals, otters, birds, fish and whales -- despite raking in a historic $25 billion profit in 2005.

It's time to hold ExxonMobil responsible for putting corporate profits over protection of wildlife and wildlife habitat. Join Defenders of Wildlife and other leading conservation groups in boycotting ExxonMobil. Sign our petition to let ExxonMobil know that you WILL NOT BUY ExxonMobil gasoline unless -- and until -- ExxonMobil takes meaningful action to curb global warming, to invest in renewable energy, and to pay for the damages done by the Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska.

Dear ExxonMobil executives,

I am disturbed and frustrated by ExxonMobil's insistence on putting corporate profits before protection of wildlife and wildlife habitat. Our country remains overly dependent on oil, and the dangers of global warming threaten current and future generations of people and wildlife. This addiction to oil represents a failed energy strategy, one that your company not only supports but has helped to develop.

I am most disturbed by:

*ExxonMobil's active support of drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge;

* ExxonMobil's efforts to block meaningful action to cut global warming pollution and its funding of junk science to hide the real facts about global warming;

* ExxonMobil's conscious decision to forgo investment in clean energy solutions - despite your record profits at a time of rising gasoline prices;

* ExxonMobil's failure to pay all of the punitive damages awarded to fishermen and others injured by the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill.

ExxonMobil represents yesterday's energy policy; I would rather spend my money and time moving forward, not backward. Therefore, I am pledging to boycott ExxonMobil until ExxonMobil takes meaningful action to curb global warming, to invest in renewable energy, and to pay for the damages done by the Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska.

Sincerely,

I believe all the oil industries are greedy, gouging, profiteering pirates. I am upper middle class, and cannot afford to fill up with gas now. I am sickened by the oil spill (so many years ago), and the blatent display of arrogance from Mobile/Exxon. The oil industry is crippling the economy. Groceries are doubled in price. If we had only had clean energy sources years ago.

Shape up or fold. The public is now demanding moral responsible performance in industry. Prices are so bad, not enough is being done to conserve the environment -- we are pissed!

Until the company takes responsibility for the Valdez disaster instead of bouncing the case through the legal system for 14 years. Until they stop putting the accruement of excessive profits over the health of the planet I will boycott ExxonMobil.

Exxon has a moral and social responsiblity to the environment and to people. The blind, arrogant pursuit of profit is unacceptable. Outdated behaviour. Shame on every individual manager at Exxon.

There is an Exxon Mobil station close to my work place. For 5 years I've been very loyal to it buying things in the Market and gas. After learnings this, I will definitely WILL NOT be going there any more. I refuse to sponsor a company that has no enviromental ethics as part of their policy, and does not care about the animals they affect.
