Stand With Malala and Fight for a Brighter Future for Women and Girls

When Malala Yousafzai was shot by a member of the Taliban on her way to school, the world watched in horror.

It was October 9, 2012. Malala, a schoolgirl from Pakistan, was targeted because she was campaigning for the right of all girls to get an education.

Less than a year later, Malala did something astounding: She celebrated her 16th birthday by making a powerful speech at the first-ever Youth Takeover of the United Nations General Assembly.

With Malala at the helm, the leaders of tomorrow delivered a youth-led resolution to help children around the world access their right to an education.

Canada was represented by two delegates at the historic event: Chrystal, 18, and Fahmeeda, 16. Both girls are dedicated supporters of Plan's Because I am a Girl initiative.

The passion of girls like Malala, Chrystal and Fahmeeda is changing the world before our very eyes. It's time for the rest of the world to stand with them.
