Empower Women and Move the World Forward

Sponsored by: Centre for Development and Population Activities

Investing in women and girls is an investment in a nation's future.

Diana is a case in point. She teaches basic skills, self-esteem and leadership to disadvantaged girls in southern Nigeria. Watch the video and see how, by providing an education to these girls, Diana expands their opportunities to live healthy, productive lives.

These girls now have the tools to create lasting change, starting with their families and then transforming entire communities and beyond. When we give women training and support, we give them the power to cause change around the world.

But it doesn't end there. By providing women and girls the skills to expand their economic opportunity, we see huge dividends for nations. Research shows that women are more likely to share their economic gains with members of their families and communities at large, helping to eradicate poverty and putting nations on a faster track for development.

Women leaders like Diana are the key to eradicating poverty, improving family health, and creating lasting change around the world. Because when women move forward, the world moves with them.

Show your support for investing in women's leadership worldwide. Pledge now to watch Diana's video and use our Tell-a-Friend tool to share it with five friends.

Arya Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, known as Kuan Yin is the bodhisattva who most embodies compassion. The name Avalokitesvara has its root meaning as "he who observes the sounds of the world". The great vow of Avalokitesvara is to listen to the supplications, and cries for help from those in difficulty in the world and to provide them with aid, whatever expedient means are needed to help people most effectively. Kuan Yin Bodhisattva, an emanation of Amida Buddha's compassion, is the "Regarder of the Cries of the World". Sometimes referred to in the West as the Goddess of Mercy. Prayers for help arise from thousands of hearts, and thousands of prayers are answered by her vow of eternal compassion: Beings in Samsara, who sail the ocean of suffering, She will guide and deliver safely to the ultimate shore of enlightenment Nīlakantha Dhāranī (The Blue Necked Dhāranī) Namo ratna-trayāya (Adoration of the triple Gem) [edit] I. Speaking as a man, I would like to see women have as much support as possible to contribute and be heard in the world. We would all be so much better off - all of us. Thanks.
