Target:Director James Caswell, Bureau of Land Management Sponsored by:Care2.com
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has announced plans to kill America's wild horses rather than effectively manage our wild natural heritage.
BLM claims it can no longer afford to round up wild horses and confine them until it finds people to adopt them, and the agency wants to euthanize these majestic wild beauties or sell them to the highest bidder "without limitation" - meaning sell them to anyone, even if the bidder also plans to kill these horses.
Why does BLM need to round up wild horses and send them to slaughter? The BLM claims that the agency can't "allow horses to multiply unchecked on the range without causing an environmental disaster." But there are less than 30,000 wild horses on the range versus at least 3 million grazing cows. So rather than address the environmental damage caused by cattle overgrazing and expanding oil and gas exploration on our public lands, the BLM would rather placate corporate cattle ranchers who view mustangs as competition for forage, and drive wild horses - our country's symbol of freedom and independent spirit - to extinction.
This plan is simply outrageous. Stand up for our wild horses and send a comment to BLM today. Urge our government to abide by the Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burro Act of 1971 and effectively manage the land to preserve wild horses rather than kill them!
We took action on “BLM: Don't Kill Our Wild Horses”!

All of the wild buffalo have been slaughtered and now the wild horses? Why don't we just say that any "wild" living thing on earth should be slaughtered? One thing I have to say is that where there is a will there is a way!! There are hundreds of acres of land that can be donated to the wild horses, like a sanctuary, and I know there are tons of people out there who would love to ranch them rather than kill them. God put us all on this earth to live together, why not let it stay the way He made it? There is such a thing called a food chain and every being is on it. I purpose that this bill be put into effect immediately, or we could take and put congress out to pasture and see if or how long they could survive. I do not mean that literally of course, but I hate to see the killing of such a majestic beautiful animal who has just as much right to roam this earth as us humans do.

The wild horses haven't mismanaged the BLM budget - PEOPLE HAVE. To murder these gorgeous creatures, upon whose backs (literally) we have built this country, is a hideous error. Don't do this!!!! Why are cows getting so much more priority than our lifelong friends, the equines? Don't kill these wild horses!!!

Has our society really come down to this level of cold and heartless behavior where we would actually slaughter these beautiful creatures? I have always looked up to the BLM for wanting to conserve our land, wildlife etc.. But just as our government always does, it talks a good talk but doesn't walk the walk.

These wild horses need to be preserved and there is enough land for both cattle and wild horses. Think about the alternatives and don't be so narrow minded or greedy. All of this country's problems boils down to GREED!!

Wild horses have just as much of a right to roam free as cattle do to graze. A balance can be found.

I am more appalled at the proposal of euthanizing these horses. There are many organizations that would benefit from the DONATION of these animals.
IE:Therapeutic riding for the Disabled as well as prisons or rehabilitation centres teaching responsibility as well as compassion.

This is such an unfortunat thing to happen. The name tells it all. WILD not "kill me for your expence" But its not just the horses your hurting, its the entire environment. Everything has its equal balance. Not there to be used for animals to be fed, killed. Its not right! Mankind has such a low. And yet we call ourselve inferior or top of the food chain. Far from! Pathetic. Thats All Im saying. Good luck killing what keeps us alive.

Please give these to poor families or someone who will protect them, instead of destroying them, unless they need to be destroyed for medical reasons.

I think it is a crime that you would kill these wild horses. Everybody want to preserve all other types of animals. why not wild horses, they are apart of our culture and heritage. You should be ashamed to even consider it!

they are a symbol of freedom and unending possibilities.....isn't that what the US claims to portray to the rest of the world.....that there is room for everyone? To bad for the Mustangs that they bring you no profit, because that's pretty much a death sentence here. The greed for money is the root of all evil....that's what it is....no Mustangs....more grass for more cattle....more meat....more money. Americans have to rethink their ways....if you want something for cheap, it will cost you in the end. We get excited about burgers for 99 cent....but what kind of quality of meat you think it is and what will it do for your health...what about the cow....what about the effect on nature. It's all about money and that's why you wanna get rid of the Mustangs. But let me tell you one thing.....back in Europe, where I'm from originally, when somebody talked about America that's what popped up in my mind every single time.......wide open spaces and wild horses running free. The Mustangs is to America what the Eiffel tower is to France, Mozart to Austria, Venice to Italy......I hope you get the picture.
