Urge Congress to repeal a tax that threatens quality of life for patients

The Right Scan Right Time campaign is a community of thousands of patient advocates from across the country who fight to expand and protect patient access to life-saving medical imaging technologies.

Medical imaging has revolutionized patient care. Today, most of us have personally benefited from a scan or know someone who has. The mother whose breast cancer was found early through a routine mammogram; the boy who hurt his arm learning how to ride a bike and an X-ray found the exact location of the break; or the father whose chest CT showed that the blockage was worse than anticipated and informed doctors that immediate action was needed.

We need your help to make sure Congress repeals the medical device tax, which threatens these life-saving tools.

The medical device tax will slow the introduction of new, advanced technologies like 4D ultrasound and cardiac CT scans that detect diseases early and help patients survive. With an aging population, people with disabilities living longer lives, and chronic disease rates growing, a tax that hinders medical progress doesn’t make sense. 

We can't let this tax prevent the next medical breakthrough.

Legislation was just introduced on Capitol Hill that would finally put an end to this harmful tax. Add your name to urge Congress to stand with patients by repealing the medical device tax.

As your constituent, it’s important to me that you cosponsor legislation to repeal the medical device tax (H.R. 184/S. 108).


The device tax threatens the quality of life for many in your community and across the country.


Advances in medical imaging have played a critical role in the fight against cancer, improving the way doctors detect, diagnose, monitor and treat this deadly disease. Today, countless lives are saved thanks to early detection through advanced imaging.

The two-year suspension of the device tax has allowed companies to reinvest the savings into a number of research and development projects that lead to the introduction of new, advanced medical technologies that so many patients rely on to stay alive.


As a dedicated member of your community, I urge you to work with national leaders to help fully repeal the medical device tax so that patients can continue to access the most advanced medical imaging technology.


With an aging population, people with disabilities living longer lives and chronic disease rates growing, a tax that hinders medical progress doesn’t make sense.


More than ever before, it’s time to increase investment in innovation that benefits patients -- not reduce it.
