For over 40 years, the US has given refuge to families who fear for their lives and have nowhere else to turn. Families fleeing persecution in the former Soviet Union, civil war in Bosnia, and widespread violence in Sudan have all made the US their home and integrated into our communities through this program.
But this crucial life-line for families who have nowhere else to turn is under attack. Members of Congress are calling for cuts to the refugee program, leaving people in their greatest hour of need out in the cold.
Our country's leaders must:
- Expand the US refugee resettlement program to help the record number of families fleeing violence and persecution around the world
- Properly fund the program so that it can continue to support people who have nowhere else to turn
