Thank Victoria's Secret For Its Environmental Promise

Great news! The DIRTY secret got out, consumers spoke up, and Victoria's Secret realized there is nothing SEXY about forest destruction. Care2's partner ForestEthics and Victoria's Secret have reached a landmark agreement on environmental stewardship!

When ForestEthics began this campaign two years ago, Victoria's Secret was printing 395 million catalogs every year on paper made predominately from virgin pulp from North America's Boreal Forest as well as other endangered forests. What's worse, it contained NO recycled content.

Recently, thanks in part to Care2 activists who sent thousands of letters, Victoria's Secret's parent company, Limited Brands, announced it will stop using paper from Endangered Forests and has ensured that at least 10 percent post-consumer waste will be used in its main catalog. This new policy raises the environmental standard for the entire catalog industry!

Let's make sure they keep up the good work. Send the CEO of Victoria's Secret a nice big THANK YOU and let him know that his efforts are not going unnoticed.

Dear Leslie Wexner,

Thank you for your recent environmental commitment to protect our forests.

I am very happy to hear about the new improvements to the Victoria's Secret catalogue that include:

  • Not using paper from Endangered Forests starting with critical habitat in the Albertan Foothills of the Canadian Boreal.
  • Increasing post-consumer recycled paper in catalogs starting with 10 percent.
  • Moving toward Forest Stewardship Council certified fiber for the non-recycled content.
