We, the undersigned, request that the hulu content acquisition department negotiate a license agreement with Bunim/Murray productions company that would allow the day time reality TV show Starting Over to air on hulu's online Streaming Service. Starting Over won several Academy awards, including an Emmy in 2005 for the category Outstanding Special Class Series at the 32nd Daytime Emmy Awards. The editors were also nominated by the Television Academy for an Emmy in the category Multi-Camera Editing in 2005. The editors of the show won an Emmy in 2006 and 2007 for Outstanding Single-Camera editing. Starting Over was an extremely popular show from 2003 until its abrupt cancelation in 2006.
Evidenced by its awards, many people viewed the show. The show enlightened so many people that it soon became a symbol of inspiration and hope to its viewers. Many claimed it to be better than therapy because of its real aspect.
Being able to experience the positive effects of watching women transform their lives, as well as introducing new fans to the power of this healing show would be beneficial for all involved. This is why we feel it should be brought back to life on Netflix.
Broadcasting it on Hulu. This would also draw a completely new audience to Bunim/Murray productions as well as Hulu in general, as Hulu has an abundance of subscribers, totaling more than HBO.
Hulu would definitely be a top-selling market to draw in new viewers, evidenced by their 29.17 million subscribers, surpassing the 28.7 million reported by HBO at the end of 2012. This could be helpful to the production company to gain a broader array of audiences to other series.
If fans knew that Starting Over was on Hulu they likely would subscribe to Hulu which would benefit them as well. In conclusion, barring any financial or legal obstacles that cannot be solved, we request that Starting Over be licensed on hulu's streaming service for the reasons cited above. By signing this petition I fully support the campaign to get the show on Hulu. This show has excellent content and many people will reap the rewards of the show being on Hulu .
