Nov. 18 Deadline! Urge the National Chicken Council to Improve Animal Welfare

  • by: ASPCA
  • recipient: National Chicken Council
Modern-day breeding practices and inhumane conditions have led to most chickens growing so fat, so fast, many can barely walk, and spend much of their short lives sick and suffering.

The National Chicken Council (NCC) will soon release new guidelines for chicken welfare. If they recommend slower-growing birds and healthier, more humane conditions, they can push the whole industry in the right direction — so they need to hear from as many people as possible before they release their recommendations. We'll be delivering signatures on November 18, so sign on today!

Add your name today, and tell the National Chicken Council to include slower-growing birds and better living conditions in their new guidelines.
Dear [decision-maker],

You set the standard for the chicken industry, influencing the welfare of billions of animals. Already over 95,000 people have signed the ASPCA's petition for slower-growing chickens raised in more humane conditions. You have the power to make that a reality.

No animal deserves to suffer, and today’s quick-growing breeds, overcrowded sheds, and dirty conditions are bad for chickens and consumers. It's time to stop putting profits ahead of welfare. I'm calling on you to recommend slower-growing breeds in your new guidelines, and to give chickens more space, natural light, and healthy, enriched living conditions.
