231 7:54 am PDT, Jul 28 Mrs. s ploton 0 Female Lyon   69 France none none I've been experiencing lariam side effects for 5 years now. There are alternative medecines to prevent malaria. Lariam has too many side effects, including very dangerous ones. Visit http://www.lariaminfo.org/
230 6:05 am PDT, Jul 9 Mr. John Dasson 23 Male Singapore   550317 Singapore Serving in the military in the Singapore Armed Forces. Consumed Lariam and had adverse reactions as well. None that i know of. Lariam is a drug which has caused many civilians and military personnel all over the globe substantial distress. A ban of this drug would literally save lives.

227 6:43 am PDT, Jul 6 Ms. Suzanne Marmion 37 Female New York New York 10016 United States n/a n/a Medical experts diagnosed me with brain damage due to Lariam toxicity after taking three pills. Nobody needs to take Lariam because there are two much safer alternatives which are equally effective: Malarone and doxycycline. Many of Lariam's side effects mimic PTSD but troops may not know this: mental images of violence; anxiety; aggression; sleeplessness; depression; suicidal ideation; panic attacks. I experienced all of these WITHOUT having seen battle, all as classic side-effects from Lariam.
226 12:07 pm PDT, Jul 5 Mr. Michael Scalera 31 Male New York New York 10028 United States None. None. 10 months after taking my third and final dose of Lariam, I am still ill. It can (and does) happen to anyone. There is simply no reason for anyone - much less our men and women in uniform - to be taking this poison when safer alternatives exist.
225 8:12 am PDT, Jul 5 Mr. christian patragnoni 34 Male cherry hill New Jersey 08003 United States None None After two years of illness, I am slowly recovering from Lariam.
224 3:16 am PDT, Jul 5   jasmin Latona 29 Female hobart     Australia not from a military background None other then Lariam that i know of at this stage I have had a bad reaction to Lariam so i understand how dangerous this drug can be! It must be banned completely across the world! It has turned my life upside down and i just prey i recover soon.

222 7:36 pm PDT, Jul 2 Mr. F. Thibodeau 40 Male MOntreal   h2v 3x7 Canada none none Taking Lariam is like playing Roulette Russe. You do not know if it will it you, and if it does you can`t go back. Its been 10 years I am suffering from Lariam. I reported my case to Roche. They took my report never followed up and never offered any help. They have knowned the amplitude of the risk for a very long time and failed to inform properly the customers. The published statistic of one person in 13,000 getting a bad reaction is false. But roche obviously does not want the real numbers to get out. We are now thousand of victims and many of us could have been saved if we had been propperly informed of the risks.
221 6:24 pm PDT, Jul 2 Mr. Andrew Sterioff 40 Male Minneapolis Minnesota 55419-5441 United States None Lariam (Mefloquine)
220 3:41 pm PDT, Jul 2 Ms. Joan Shahrani 45 Female Belleville Wisconsin 53508 United States None Not sure at this time.
219 3:33 pm PDT, Jul 2   Al Graham 43 Male Hastings   TN34 United Kingdom none not sure In the latest (UK) warning about Lariam it states that "because of the long half-life of mefloquine, adverse reactions to Lariam may occur or persist for more than several weeks after the last dose." This is misleading as the half-life does not refer to the amount of the drug entering the brain tissue, where it does most harm. No one knows how long it remains absorbed in the brain. Symptoms can therefore last for many years. People think they will get over the effects fairly quickly. This is a false assumption.
218 3:27 pm PDT, Jul 2   Pamela Maule 51 Female Iron Mountain Michigan 49801 United States none I can't answer this question. Beside the military, Lariam should be banned completely from use including use in the Peace Corps and with world travelers. My son experienced problems with Lariam while serving in the Peace Corps.

210 9:01 am PDT, Apr 6 Mrs. Stephanie Aguilar 29 Female Oceanside California 92054 United States Air Force none
209 8:38 pm PST, Jan 8 Ms. Jennifer Layne 29 Female The Woodlands Texas 77381 United States veteran see comments Military members should have fully disclosed information regarding any type of injections or medications given to them. Not enough information is given to soldier’s prior injection time during line ups for any vaccines. Psychiatric drugs for military members should be a choice and all information to the drug should be supplied to the service member or veteran before being prescribed any types of these drugs. I feel the military and VA are very easy on writing any type of psychiatric medications. There are many non pharmaceutical remedies to heal the mind than something white, yellow, blue or pink.
