The Opportunity

Act now to take advantage of an opportunity for public input on new public art for the Presidio!  Rumor has it that the Presidio Trust and it’s landscape designers will take public opinion into consideration when it chooses art for a new park in the San Francisco Presidio.  The park will be an extension of the Main Post, running up and over the tunnels that are currently under construction in connection with the Doyle Drive project.

R-Evolution and The Bliss Project

We are looking for all the support we can get for the selection of San Francisco artist Marco Cochrane and his newest sculpture, R-Evolution. R-Evolution, pictured above, is currently under construction, and is set to make her first appearance at Burning Man 2015. Marco's past work includes the now iconic sculpture, Bliss Dance, currently installed on Treasure Island, as well as Truth is Beauty.  See a beautiful time-lapse of Bliss Dance here:  https://vimeo.com/119507201 and photos of Truth is Beauty here:https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&rlz=1C1CHFX_enUS581US581&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=marco+cochrane+truth+is+beauty&revid=875122191

Together these three sculptures form The Bliss Project, a series of monumental sculptures of a woman, Deja Solis, expressing her humanity in world in which she is safe.  Each sculpture is at least 40 feet tall, constructed of welded steel rods and balls, covered in stainless steel mesh skin with RGB LED lighting effects.  Bliss Dance, Truth is Beauty and R-Evolution are intended to demand a change in perspective, to be catalysts for social change, inspiring men and women to take action to end violence against women, making room for women’s voices, ultimately resulting in a balance of energy that will allow women and men, and everything we interact with to thrive…Watch Marco talking about The Bliss Project here: https://vimeo.com/62843802.  Read more about Marco here:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marco_Cochrane.

Act Now

R-Evolution would clearly be a stunning addition to San Francisco’s growing collection of cutting-edge, interactive, collaborative public art.  In addition, in the San Francisco tradition, she would make a bold statement about cultural norms that need to change: we all must take responsibility for the safety of women and girls.

Let the Presidio Trust know we want R-Evolution to become a part of the San Francisco skyline!  Help us get 100,000 signatures!
