Career politicians are destroying our democracy, preventing government reform, and serving only the interests of themselves. Enact term limits to prevent more damage to our democracy.
Dear members of Congress,
Our founding fathers envisioned America to governed by citizens. These citizens would serve their country's interests and then return to society. Today our government is dominated by career politicians who look to preserve their own careers before serving the interests of the people. We ask that congress begins the process of a creating a constitutional amendment to limit the number of terms that members of the Senate and House of Representatives can serve.
Term limits are the answer to sloving the majority of scandals that plague Congress today. By limiting members of congress to two or three terms it would prevent them from serving only themselves and force them to utilize their time to work for the benefit of the people. If members of Congress truly want to serve the people, and not serve themselves, they would support term limits and show that they can do the most for the people in the shortest amount of time.
Term limits would bring new life to congress. By forcing members to serve only a limited amount of time, it would allow new candidates, new ideas, new blood to fill the ranks of congress. Our country would be revitalized by new ideas from different people - different citizens and not career politicians.
Career politicians have no skills to offer to the public other than to serve in a legislator. Career politicians will serve a life time in a legislator and then become out of touch with their districts, states, and the people that they represent. Citizen legislators would be the best qualified to govern our nation.
Our government is not so complicated that the ordinary citizen can not serve in the legislator. It is time to create a constitutional amendment to limit the number of terms of members of the Senate and House of Representatives. Our President is term limited, as well as numerous state legislators - it is about time that the United States Congress does the same.
