| 1,372 | 9:14 am PST, Mar 7 | Jennifer Wingard | Charlottesville | Virginia | United States | Preserving the Marion Street Mall is the key to maintaining the charm and village character of Oak Park. After graduating from Loyola I brought friends who lived in other states to visit the charming place I lived and loved. We have so many good memories of the place. Don't deprive future generations of that character. I was thinking about moving back to Oak Park but without the mall there, I think I would cross it off my list. | |

| 1,356 | 8:44 pm PDT, Apr 23 | Emily Coffin | New York | New York | United States | As a previous resident and oformer employee of a downtown Oak Park restaurant, the beauty and ease of walking to work was a major attraction of Oak Park. Further, the mall provides a wonderful community space that should be preserved for future generations | |
| 1,355 | 8:34 pm PDT, Apr 22 | Anonymous | San Diego | California | United States | This unique plaza makes Oak Park special and offers easy shop access to those that walk or use public transit. | |
| 1,354 | 12:45 pm PDT, Apr 21 | Gloria Ohman | Oak Park | Illinois | United States | I think that the destruction of the pedestrian block of Marion street will do nothing to improve the economic future of the area.If Oak Park was more open to different types of retail establishments that would like to open businesses here, maybe then Oak Park would see the economic growth that they so desperately think they need.Putting in more little "unknown" shops will not begin to offset the costs of the demolition and construction of the project. The little pedestrian area is a quiet retreat and an "oasis of solitude" for all who live and visit here;and isn't keeping this "small-town atmosphere" what Oak Park is all-about? | |
| 1,353 | 10:29 pm PDT, Apr 17 | Bart Halleman | Franklin Park | Illinois | United States | I was around when the Lake Street mall was created. And I remember that after the street was closed off. Then the Village decided to reopen the street. All of the trees that were destroyed just to cover up a mistake made by the Village. The destruction of the Marion Street Mall would really make a lot of people mad. Especially registered voters! | |
| 1,352 | 7:43 pm PDT, Apr 17 | Christopher Alioto | Oak Park | Illinois | United States | This mall is a staple of the Oak Park experience. Restreeting it will take away from this neighborhood feel and pave the way for more condos, of which Oak Park doesn't need anymore. | |

Save the Marion Street Mall from destruction!!
And it will cost the taxpayers of Oak Park $5 million!!
The current Village trustees admit destroying the Marion Street Mall will do little to stimulate commerce. But, their comment that "we have to do something" makes it clear it is simply a political move for the April elections.
After $100 million to "save the mall," the vacancy rate of 50% is the lowest it's ever been. Devastating our beautiful, serene area won't help. We want to keep our lovely tree-rich oasis; we want to be able to sit with our friends and look at the flower beds and listen to the birds. We know you probably do as well.
Please help us reach our goal of 5000 signatures by April 1. Tell the president and trustees that we WANT OUR MARION STREET MALL. With the election around the corner, maybe they'll listen.
Thank you for helping to Save the Marion Street Mall.
