Tell John McCain to Stop Supporting Discriminatory Anti-GLBT Measures!

Target: Senator John McCain
Sponsored by: Human Rights Campaign

You've probably seen countless news stories about John McCain's "maverick" record. But while he'd like you to believe he's a moderate, at the end of the day Sen. McCain marches in lockstep with the anti-GLBT right wing. Did you know:

* John McCain has publicly embraced the hateful California marriage initiative that would deny marriage rights to committed same-sex couples.

* In 2006, he appeared in a TV ad for a similar measure in Arizona.

* He doesn't believe GLBT couples should be able to adopt children.

Don't let Sen. McCain get away with embracing discrimination while telling us he's protecting GLBT rights. Don't let him tell us he's a maverick while supporting hate and bigotry.

Sign the petition and tell Sen. McCain to stop supporting measures that deny committed, adult couples the rights and responsibilities of marriage.

Dear Sen. McCain,

In California, Arizona and around the country, committed same-sex couples want nothing more than the legal recognition of their relationships that heterosexual couples enjoy.

You have built a political image as a "maverick" willing to cut against the partisan grain. Why then are you siding with the most radical agents of intolerance on the issue of marriage rights?

There is nothing "pro-family" about telling two adults in a committed relationship that their commitment has less value than that of other couples. There is nothing "pro-family" about stigmatizing and marginalizing loving families. The California ballot initiative would not strengthen the institution of marriage; it would weaken it.

We live in a country that values equal rights. It should not be equal rights only for certain select groups, but equal rights for all!

I think it is terrible you support discrimination against gay couples. I personally know many gay couples and I belive they should have every right to marrige. I'm sorry you are too full of hatred to see this.

Everyone deserves to be happy, its a God-given right! Live and let live. Even if you don't personally accept homosexuals, hopefully you understand that it is unfair to treat homosexuals different. If you're going to discriminate against homosexuals, then I'm confused. I thought slavery and discrimination were over. What is our country really about? It certainly is not the land of the free. Let homosexuals be happy and give them the rights they deserve!
