Sign this petition asking District 4 Councilmember David Ryu to have a stop work order issued now!

Signing this petition asking District 4 Councilmember David Ryu to have a stop work order issued for the creation of a new street and four homes with swimming pools on a former "paper" street called Crisler Way in Laurel Canyon is an absolute necessity.

This is NOT a NIMBY petition. Here's why:

The B-permit for building this new street was issued without ANY public input or notice of any kind what-so-ever. That's, NO NOTICE AT ALL!

If this project is not stopped for review and investigation it will set a precedent that will, in a very short period of time, insure that every paper street in Los Angeles will be fair game for developers. At present, these streets can be developed without anyone knowing about it until the backhoes appear on your street. Then it's too late.

The community must be allowed to have a say in street projects this large and invasive.

This project is taking place on one of the worst sub-standard streets and fragile infrastructures in Los Angeles (broken water mains, gas mains, a "Big Burn" , crumbling streets, etc.)

A building project of this magnitude can cause a catastrophic event.

This is literally an assault on our community, wildlife and environment occurring right now, We (the people) are the only ones who can stop it.

This project will set a precedent that will continue for many years - it's up to us to set the direction. The time put a stop to this is NOW. If you are against out-of-control over-development, sign this petition.

They'll be on your (paper) street next.

So, please add your signature. It is now up to us - you and I.

Thank you very much,
Skip Haynes

p.s., Make sure you add a comment along with your signature. Let our elected "servants of the people" know what you think about this outrage. Signatures with comments carry a lot more weight than just a signature. This is a chance to let your elected official know what you think. I'll make sure it gets to them.

Update #18 years ago
Hi all,
Today we received some great news! Thanks to all of you who let Councilmember David Ryu know your feelings about the "stealth" street, Crisler Way. We received a letter today from his office requesting that a "stop work order" be issued.

We are extremely grateful for the Council office's speedy response in favor of our community.

Again, thanks to everyone. We'll be in touch with more information, petitions and calls to actions as they occur.
