Demand the Texas Attorney General Stop Threatening a Woman and Her Doctors Over an Emergency Abortion She Desperately Needs!

In an act of what we can only describe as pure evil, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is openly threatening any doctor who helps save the life and fertility of a woman in his state.

You see, the woman in question is pregnant -- but the fetus was diagnosed with "a genetic abnormality that usually results in miscarriage, stillbirth or death soon after birth." To continue her pregnancy would not result in a healthy living child, but rather a death sentence before or soon after birth, and immense risks to the mother's health and future ability to have children.

So a Texas judge granted this woman a court order, giving her permission to receive the emergency abortion she so desperately needs. Hours later, AG Ken Paxton wrote a letter threatening any doctor who provides her the healthcare she has every right to receive.

Sign the petition and tell AG Ken Paxton to rescind his horrifying threats against this poor woman and the doctors helping her!

This woman is already a mother of two, and has said that she very much wants more children. Seeking this abortion is by no means an easy decision for her.

In a news release, she described it like this: "I do not want my baby to arrive in this world only to watch her suffer a heart attack or suffocation. I desperately want the chance to try for another baby and want to access the medical care now that gives me the best chance at another baby."

Under Texas' wildly restrictive abortion ban, the procedure is illegal after six weeks with a narrow exception -- to save the life of the mother, or to avoid serious bodily impairment. If she is forced to continue her pregnancy, not only will she have to watch her child suffer and quickly die -- according to doctors, she could also lose the ability to conceive more children in the future.

AG Ken Paxton has no right to take this woman's bodily autonomy away from her. This is a political powerplay that clearly has nothing to do with protecting life, and everything to do with controlling pregnant people's bodies.

People deserve the right to choose abortion when it makes sense for them, and doctors deserve to feel safe providing the healthcare that people need. We must fight for this woman and her doctors, bringing our voices together to tell AG Ken Paxton -- keep your prosecution off of this woman's body.
