Tell Congress: It's Time for Background Checks!

An overwhelming 92% of Americans support background checks for all gun sales. But under pressure from the Washington gun lobby, Congress has stalled and failed to close the deadly loopholes in the background check system.
Even though federal law requires brick-and-mortar gun stores to conduct background checks, no background check is required for a gun sold by an unlicensed seller. Millions of guns are exchanged each year without a criminal background check — often between strangers who meet online or at gun shows. Felons, domestic abusers, the seriously mentally ill, and other dangerous people know about this loophole, and they exploit it every day.
It’s like having two lines at the airport — one with security, and one without — and criminals get to choose.
It's time to close this dangerous loophole, and pass laws that will prevent dangerous people from being able to buy guns with no background checks and no questions asked.

Every gun buyer should pass a criminal background check before they can get a gun. Expanding background checks will help make sure that felons, domestic abusers, the seriously mentally ill, and other dangerous people are not able to get guns. It’s common sense. Please close the loopholes in the law that let dangerous people get guns and help keep our communities safe.
