285 6:42 pm PST, Feb 8   Kristie Munson Pennsylvania I feel as though it's almost beyond repair however marriage isn't a privilege. It's a right. Nobody should have the ability to deny someone a simple right. We proudly claim that we live in the most free country in the world with the freedom to practice civil rights. Not taking advantage of giving people what they deserve and abiding by Quoting the Bible is the WORST way to argue against homosexuality. You could argue all day that according to The Word of God, homosexuality is an abomination but how many things do you, a heterosexual, go against that the bible saw at one point as being an abomination? Was your wife a virgin when you married her? If not, she should have been stoned by her family a long time ago. Do you own slaves? You aren't allowed to. Do you know why? Because it was proven UNCONSTITUTIONAL despite the fact that the Bible may say differently. Homosexuality exists in all species and shouldn't be alienated and discriminated against.

277 10:07 pm PST, Dec 31 Mr. Anonymous Illinois Under the right circumstances, yes, but we will have to do it at an individual level. You cannot legislate morality. There has to be a sanctity of life. Eliminate abortion, and respect the other members of the family unit. Go back to what you know. Establish a healthy family model with the father and mother role models. I believe homosexuality is wrong by nature. IF it were right, even evolution would have displayed it. The physical anatomies of male and female show that it is wrong. And asking for "marriage" is simply an attempt at validation of a flawed concept.

258 2:06 pm PDT, May 25 Mr. Reuben Harbuck Maryland Yes, if people will understand the sanctity of marriage, regardless of religious views. Getting married isn't a "happy ending". It is a promise to love and to care for each other, especially when things get tough. Instead of bashing gays for wanting equal rights as non-gays, why don't you promote the good values of a healthy marriage? Attack the ideas of promiscuity. Emphasize the damage it can have on one's conscience. The 60's "free love" concept was one made by people who were high on drugs. They confused love with lust. Love freely, but for goodness sake, don't be whores! :)

255 1:38 am PDT, May 21   Cassandra P California No. That's a pipe dream at best. Get over the bigotry and stop saying there is such thing as a "gay agenda" when the true statement should be "there is a heterosexual agenda of discrimination and bigotry".
254 8:47 pm PDT, May 19 Mr. Scott Siminofsky Florida Not in my lifetime.
253 2:06 pm PDT, May 19 Ms. Ostara Ericksson Oregon repaired?? its always been this way. every nation throughout history has been built on abused children. Open your mind outside of our western culture, and think about how much more prevalent abuse in families has always been. This is an unanswerable question. To stop abuse of any kind would be the answer to societies problems, but is just not realistic. split America into separate more sustainable countries. "I wish for freedom, liberty, peace, love and respect for all "mankind"." from a few lines down by Mr. Kris Wirth is beautiful and poignant and should be the final argument on any of these topics.
252 1:30 pm PDT, May 19 Mr. Pedro Ezcurra California
251 1:02 pm PDT, May 19 Mrs. Jennifer Spires Ohio I honestly don't know Pay more attention and have more help for abused women and children I think what 2 consenting adults do has NO affect on anyone else's life, marriage or anything of the sort. I fully support Gay Marriage. I am a GLBT activist who wants equal rights for all. Those who are discriminating do so because of how insecure and hate-filled they are. However, like all those who are of the GLBT community and support them, I to will keep fighting for equal rights for all.

Gay Marriage; What Heterosexual will throw the first stone?

  Luke 6:42
How can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,' when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.

The majority of people are heterosexual.  Unfortunately many people in the U.S. think that "majority rule" means the majority has the RIGHT to OPPRESS the minority. If that were the case, and our law makers and courts did not step in, we may still have slavery today and women would still not be allowed to own land or vote.

Like so many that are in the majority, it is easy for them to make new laws and rules that have no affect on them.  That is what Heterosexuals are doing when they write legislation or vote on laws governing gay marriage.  It doesn't change anything for them.  They do not have to change their behavior.  They do not have to look at their own moral make up.  They just dictate what other people should or shouldn't do.

Consider the following facts:

Heterosexual Domestic AbuseAccording to the Family Violence Prevention Fund, women are more likely to be killed by their own husband or intimate male partner than by a stranger.

According to The Bureau of Justice statistics, children under 5 years of age are more likely to be killed by their own (heterosexual) parents and caregivers than by a stranger.

In 2004, there were approximately 627,400 nonfatal intimate partner victimizations in the U.S.

According to The Family Violence Prevention Fund, 50% of men who frequently abuse their wives also frequently abuse their children.

Heterosexual Child AbuseAccording to Child Welfare Information Gateway, as of September 30, 2003, there were an estimated 523,000 children in foster care (because of abuse, neglect or inability to care for them by there heterosexual parents).

According to The U.S. Divorce Statistics
2.5 million divorce each year as of 1997;
50% of first marriages ended in divorce;
380,000 women were stalked by a husband or ex-husband;
52,000 men are stalked by a wife or ex-wife.
As of 2000 1,365,000 married men and women did not live together.

According to WomenSavers research 22% of married men and 14% of married women cheat on their spouses.

This is just the tip of an awful and violent iceberg. Heterosexuals, though, point their finger away from themselves and blame the disintegration of their cherished institution on people who do not have and never had any affect on their behavior.  How can Heterosexuals tell gays they can't get married because it is immoral when the majority of Heterosexuals themselves have taken part in some form of immoral behavior involving marriage (that being divorce, violence, domestic and child abuse or just having a less than sanctimonious marriage.)

The people signing this petition wish to stop Heterosexuals from making legislation governing marriage until Heterosexulas take responsibility for there own immoral, violent behavior and fix the own sancitiy of there own marriages.

This petition will be sent to to government officials and community leaders and help inspire informed discussion of this hypocrasy.
