Number Date Prefix Name Age City State How long have you been aware of the plans for this park to be developed into a ball field complex? Do you think the whole park should be protected from development and should focus on recreational activities that work with the land as a natural area
789 3:09 pm PST, Nov 18   Benjamin Silvestro 0 Woodfin North Carolina Very recently informed I absolutely think the park should preserved entirely! There are numerous areas for people to play baseball or any other sport in this city. The natural beauty of our landscape should be held in a much higher priority than a field.
788 8:55 pm PDT, Sep 15 Ms. Anonymous 0 Asheville North Carolina just found out like the finest great cities Asheville needs to keep some land for parks. What would NYC be without Central Park, or Brooklyn without prospect park? Even downtown needs more parks. How about the old deal buick lot?

762 2:04 pm PDT, Mar 15 Mr. David Brown 24 Fletcher North Carolina I .just became aware of it today, March 15th, 2007. Absolutely... The land is perfectly suited for a variety of recreational and outdoor activities AS IS. It's stupid to change it. Do a survey- you'll find that many more people would enjoy a place for hiking, mountain biking, picnicking, frisbeeing, reading, cloud-watching and meditating than a place for BASEBALL. Baseball's popularity has been steadily decreasing for years... Do the research... It's common sense.

752 3:39 pm PST, Mar 2 Ms. H.Marie Ostrander 59 Fairview North Carolina I have just become aware of this plan by reading this site. I definitely think this park should be protected from the ravages of uncontrolled growth this area has been subjected to. I moved here 12 years ago and have become very saddened to witness the uncontrolled pot marking of our beautiful mountains by appartment complexes and homes for the well to do. If this isn't stopped I can forsee a significant impact on the tourism industry that this area relies on for a large part of it's annual profits.

Richmond Hill Woods City Park

Richmond Hill Park is the City of Asheville, NC's largest wooded city park. At 183 acres this park is unique and irreplaceable. It connects the French Broad River and adjoining wetland complex with the drier woods of the uplands. Its strength is its size as this park caters to a wide variety of outdoor activities such as mountain biking, hiking, jogging, dog walking, bird watching, and just seeking serenity. The park is wooded and very hill, and current city plans are to level a large portion (over 24 acres) for a ball field complex including 5 fields, parking lot, and concessions building. The main entrance for the ball field complex will be through the quiet neighborhood of Richmond Hill.
