At a further investigation from the World Society for the Protection of Animals beginning 2001 the responsible consultant pointed out: "It seems that these dolphins work harder and longer than all the dolphins I have ever seen before and since 40 years I am involved in that. They are mistreated and overworked and they live in a very small and confined area."
We - the Undersigned - would therefore urgently ask you to do all in your power to convince the responsible authorities, that this mistreatment has to be stopped immediately and Manati Park is no longer making money out of the suffering of animals. We ask that the remaining dolphins are returned to the areas from which they were captured or rehabilitated in a natural environment.
Sign now and urge closure of this horrible park!

In what is a sad reminder of the unacceptable cruelty inherent to keeping dolphins in captivity, Sharky suffered head injuries and died soon afterwards. |

I would not have gone if i had known before hand about these conditions. I would not recommend this to anyone else. help to save these dolphins before they are hurt or die due to miss treatment and no proper care or feeding.

| 4,871 | 7:59 am PDT, Apr 12 | Kap Pearson | Canada | My daughter and I visited Maniti Park in April 2008. Although very thrilled and excited to meet dolphins for the first time, i was quickly saddened by the following details: 1. The amount and frequency of the shows the dolphins and sea lions perform daily seven days a week....they work non stop from 9 am to 6 pm. 2. the tiny concret, in very poor condition, swimming pool they live in. HORRIBLE!! this is their home minutes from the ocean. 3. during each and every show there is dance music BLASTING too loud for even poeple and a narrator speaking over a microphone at max volume which must be excrutiating for the dolphins sensitivity to sound and vibrations. 4. one of the dolphins we saw was very scraped up and had many gashes on top of his body. 5. they are clearly reduced to drones forced to perform and be fondled and roll over and play nicey with the tourists for the majority of their waking hours. i felt like such a hypocrite being there and will never attend another park such as this again and will continue to share my experience with hopes that someday something is done to either set these animals free or force the facility to provide a heathier and happier life for the animals they captured and use as cash cows. sincerely Kap | |

Le dauphin doit vivre en liberté, ça devrait être interdit de les capturer pour les priver de l'immensité des océans, comment peut on empêcher ça?c'est insupportable, les humains ne respectent pas suffisament les animaux, ils n'ont RIEN compris!

Help to close the Dolphin Tank at Manati Park Bavaro!!!
In July 2002 Manati Park used an old permit issued in 1995 and captured another eight dolphins in national waters herewith violating the Dominican Republic Law 64-00 Art 175 promulgated on August 18, 2000 which prohibits the capture of protected species. On top the capture of these eight dolphins was done in the specific protected area of a
national park, Parque Nacional del Este which means that this activity as well violates the regulations of the national park. Reportedly Manati Park is still on the hunt for ten more dolphins although it lacks the proper facility to house these animals.
